Arm & Hammer with oxyclean. It's the cheapest one at my grocery store.

We recently switched to Charlie's Soap, and so far, I like it. We had used Arm and Hammer for a long time, and that worked well for us, too.

@regberadaisy: interesting! Where did you find washing soda? I looked for some last summer, and I couldn't find it anywhere. Do you think making your own is cheaper? Does it clean well?

Tide free & gentle. I used to use Nellie's detergent but I found it wasn't getting things clean enough.

@LovelyPlum: it's in the laundry aisle with all the powders. It's usually by arm & hammer. I know Wegmans definitely has them! DH has a physical job and sweats a lot so yes it works! Even on his workout clothes. Sometimes if they're extra sweaty I throw a spoonful of oxyclesn in the wash. I pretreat bad stains with oxy clean spray. I've been making my own detergent for 6 years now! The ingredients cost less than $10 and I can make at least 10-12 five gallon buckets of laundry detergent. I make a liquid kind, not the powder. There are lots of different recipes out there so let me know if you want the one I use!
