I usually just grab what is on sale, but haven't found anything I really love yet. What brand do you use?

I use Tide Free and Clear or Honest Company detergent. I'm really sensitive to perfumes, and a most of the scented detergents give me a headache! I'm noticing a lot more scent-free detergents these days though, so I will probably start trying the different brands out to see what does the best job.

I really love Tide with Febreeze, or Tide with Downey, but I'm too lazy to do separate loads so all of our stuff is being washed with Tide free.. Toys r Us is having a sale on babyganics so I'll probably pick some of that up. Can't wait to go back to the scented Tide though..

I used All free and clear, but now I make it. it's ridiculously easy! all ingredients were at walmart for so cheap - a box of borax, box of arm & hammer super washing soda and 3 bars fels-naptha soap. you just mix it all (grate the soap first!).

All Free & Clear.
I've thought about making it, but I prefer liquid to powder.

I make my own but I heard powder can irritate baby skin because it can leave a slight residue on fabric. I bought Seventh Generation for baby stuff but I'll probably experiment with my own after a few months. Most important to me is no dyes or perfumes for any of our clothes.

Ecos from Sam's Club - it's cheap and you get lots of loads out of it (252 loads for $14!!) http://www.samsclub.com/sams/ecos-plus-liquid-laundry-detergent-lavender-210-oz-252-loads/prod4740073.ip?navAction=
They also have the Ecos Free and Clear but the hubby and I like the lavender scent. We probably will switch to the free and clear one a month or two before the LO arrives.

Tide Free and Clear for our clothes. Dreft for the baby's clothes. I thought that I would hate Dreft and not use it, but I love it. It's a great baby stain fighter. Once my bottle runs out, I plan on getting the Up & Up brand version of it.

Tide free and clear. But after this bottle runs out I'm going to try to make my own. I wanted to make my own dish soap too but of course DH just came home with some from costco.....

We switched to Kirkland Free and Clear for baby. We used to use the fragranced Kirkland or Tide and I miss that smell!

All Free & Clear. I don't like detergent with fragrances.

Tide Free and Clear since my husband has sensitive skin and it works for the baby's clothes. But oh man, I miss scented detergent and fabric softener.

I normally make my own liquid detergent. But like right now when I'm slacking, I use Arm & Hammer Free

We use natural soap nuts. They are awesome! Cheap, no chemicals, effective, and a natural fabric softener.

Tide Free and Clear (HE). I'm allergic to dyes, and DH can't use anything but Tide. So, it works for us.
I used to use Purex free & clear but DH gets a rash if I wash his clothes in it. And I don't think they make a HE version of it (I could be wrong).

All Free and Clear...Tide really irritated my skin, even without the dyes and such.
ETA: Someone who came to look at our front-loading washer/dryer (after we swapped them out twice) told us to use no more than half the recommended amount of detergent. He said any more than that and it would never wash out, leaving a residue.

Almost all of them irritate my skin, I found that purex free and clear doesn't. I might give ecos a try.

We use homemade detergent for our clothes, Charlie's Soap for baby's clothes, and Rockin' Green for diapers. Once I run out of the homemade stuff (I made a huge batch several months ago), we'll probably just wash everything but the diapers in Charlie's Soap.

@MegWag: I'm very intrigued by soap nuts--tell me more! Is there a difference in quality depending on where you buy them from, or are they all the same? I need to research this.

@allison: we've ordered ours from Ebay. One seller had higher quality ones than the other, so it does vary. They shouldn't be gummy or sticky, though they worked fine, they just didn't last as many washes. I'd look up what seller we bought from, but I'm in the UK, so you'll probably want someone in the US.
Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions! Hope you love them as much as we do

We use Gain and Dreft. I prefer the Gain Apple Mango Tango, but it's not available in HE powdered detergent. We're using original HE right now.

Country Save! We plan to cloth diaper and it's one of the recommended detergents for cloth diapers.

We have been using 7th generation free and clear, but I have been hunting for something different. I bought some 2nd hand baby clothes and they smelled SO good that I have been trying to figure out what detergent it might be. It almost smelled like a cherry popsicle. If I find that, I am at least switching some clothes to that!
