Ha! There's only one property listed in our postal code. It's a 5 bed 8 bath home for $3,260,000.
We rent.
ETA: A few streets over there is a condo for $990k 2 bed 2 bath. $1,300 per month in maintenance.

Lol I'm getting ready to list my apt for just under $1m! It's a whopping 800 sq ft with two tiny bedrooms and one bath, no view but elevator building and lots of light. I of course live in NYC and did not pay this much to buy it myself, the value has increased a lot since we bought.

Houses in my zip code start in the $1million range. (And people are always saying how "cheap" the area is, I guess cheap compared to other nice/safe areas of the city) 
There's a house across the street that looks like a small crack house that was originally on sale for $1.2 million and went down to $980,000. I forget the square footage but it was small.
There's a 5 bed/3 bath 2,000 sq. ft. home for $999,000.
It's just amazing to me that one of these homes sold for $185,000 in 2001 and now I live in an area with million dollar homes. But these homes do not look like they are worth a million dollars!
ETA: Most expensive home in my zip code is $5.5 million.

There is nothing in my zip right at $1M today – there are tons of places in the 7’s and 8’s and then again at 1.6M and up.
On either side of $1M are homes around 3500-4500 square feet, with views of the ocean (one has views only and a deeded ROW, another is actually oceanfront). They are very nice (some updating needed inside), but not extravagant or “mansions”.

The most expensive house in my zip code is $699,000, and it's about 15 minutes away. 5 bed, 4 bath, 4,250 square feet, 1.19 acres, and built in 2008.

Wow, isn't it crazy how different things are! A million here can by a very large house with land and all the "necessities" of a fancy compound I could have my absolute dream house for 500-750K, I wouldn't need the whole million.

i can buy my neighbor's 2 bed/2 bath 1083 sq ft SFH. we're two blocks from the beach, but his house is slightly over priced.
there are a couple other options at that price point if you move away from the beach a half mile.
