I had method in the pump bottle, it was awful. Our clothes didn't get clean! So now I'm using arm & hammer sensitive skin & I have tide free & clear that I use on whites & DH's gym clothes cause it gets them cleaner. Yeah, I have 2 going. And a bag of dropps packets for DH on the rare occasion he tries to help with laundry. He's not good with putting the right amount of liquid in.

I use whatever is on sale/cheap, as long as it's a free and clear type! Right now it's a store brand.

Ecos for baby stuff, Homemade for everything else. I'm sure the homemade is fine for baby but it's powdered and I prefer liquid for her stuff because I think there is less of a chance of it not rinsing away completely.

@locavore_mama: What's your recipe? I have a s***load of my powdered but liquid would be great for my next batch!

@JerricaBenton: i'll dig it up but it's basically washing soda, borax and ivory soap!
ETA: 4 cups hot tap water, 1 Ivory soap bar, 1 cup washing soda and 1/2 cup borox.
First, you grate the bar of soap and add to saucepan with water. Stir continually over medium-low heat until soap dissolves and is melted.
Fill a 5-gallon bucket half full of hot tap water. Add melted soap, washing soda and Borax. Stir well until all powder is dissolved. Fill bucket to top with more hot water. Stir, cover and let sit overnight to thicken.
Stir and fill a used, clean, laundry soap dispenser half full with soap and then fill rest of the way with water. Shake before each use.
To use: On a top load machine, 5/8 cup per load (approx 180 loads); on a front load machine, 1/4 cup per load (approx. 640 loads)

@locavore_mama: Awesome - thank you! That's essentially what I do but I use Kirk's soap and didn't think to use water to liquefy it!
