The lady told me it was good and I should buy a slice. I was feeling adventurous. What did I buy? Lol

Oh I think it's sweet... Supposed to be dessert.
I'm not into most of the Korean sweets tho so I can't help!

@blackbird: dduk! It's just the traditional white rice cake with raisin, nuts, etc.

@blackbird: it's dduk. aka a type of rice cake.
the orange is a squash/pumpkin and the black stuff are beans!

Kind of reminds me of the inside of a bean bun. Delicious. Too bad it's dry. wompwomp.

@blackbird: There's only one place (that I know of!) in our city that sells them. It's all the way across the city from us. We go there once every few months to get milk tea and bean buns. lol. We leave with like, 10 bean buns and eat them in the car on the way home.

@blackbird: it's not supposed to be sweet or very moist!
next time you go, look for something like this. these are my faves. soft, sweet, chewy and they have a sweet filling.
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
That does not look appetizing to me at all but now I feel the need to try it and see what exactly it's like!

@chopsuey: ugh they had those RIGHT next to them!!! I'll get them next time

@.twist.: I love the sweet bean buns and milk tea too! You would be so fun to hang out with! You know so much about different cuisines and seem so cultured.

@blackbird: What Korean market did you get these at? I had a friend tell me I had to try the little guys like the picture that was posted!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@loveisstrange: there's one behind the Seeger Toyota dealership on olive and fee fee!! There is a HUGE Asian market in university city, but i think it leans more Chinese.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@chopsuey: is this mochi, by the way? I've bought it frozen, then thawed. I used to bring it to my grandma and it always had a red bean filling

@blackbird: Yeah, I think I know the one on Olive in U City you mean. It's in like... an old Shop N Save or something, isnt it? That area is def more chinese (try eating at Shu Feng if you're down there. So good). I'll have to find this korean one!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@loveisstrange: yes! Guess you'll have to make your way out here
I know there is a Korean bakery in chesterfield too. Don't know the name of it. It's in the shopping center with el maguey. Thanks for the recommendation! Good Chinese is HARD to get
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
@blackbird: it isn't mochi! kinda similar, but not really
bananas / 9227 posts
That stuff's not very sweet. You gotta put some custard on it or something.
pineapple / 12526 posts
@blackbird: also, Lulu's and Wonton King.
I love me some Chinese and that area is the best place to get it.

@blackbird: I think you can usually tell by the crumblyness that it's going to have that texture and taste. Mochi is usually pink or green or white with a fine powder (rice flour? don't know) coating it, and kind of flattish.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@loveisstrange: we ate at Lulu's once and it was just ok
. Maybe because we did dim sum, but it was nothing like the dim sum I remember back in CA
pineapple / 12526 posts
@blackbird: It's been a really long time since I've eaten there but I remember it being good. We didn't eat dim sum though.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@loveisstrange: maybe we just need to stick to stuff we know next time lol
