Did your parents almost pick another name for you?
My parents came close to naming me Ariel (before "Little Mermaid" came out), but decided against it because of the possible nickname "Air Head". Good thing too, since I turned out to be a red head. Little mermaid jokes would have been endless.
My mom also really considered the name Shannon, but my Dad vetoed it. I wouldn't have minded Shannon too much, but I'm happy with my name.
What were you ALMOST named?

I don't know what my name would be if I were a boy, but my sister's name would have been Lenny. My mom picked my brother's name, so my dad got to pick her name. My mom was in labor praying that she would be a girl so she wouldn't have to name her kid Lenny- she hated it!

My parents almost named me Laura but our last name started with L. My first best friend was named Laura so that would've been cute!

I was almost Erica and my grandma wanted Natalie. Those names are ok but I like mine much better!

My mom wanted to name me Whilamena--no idea where she got that from. Instead, my middle name is Whitney. My parents were also considering Kate/Katie, which is funny, because I'm constantly told that I look like Katie Holmes 
So it would have been a really weird coincidence if they had named me that!

I was going to be named Nathan if I was a boy (which I hate, sorry if that is a name you like) and it was between Rebecca (after my great grandmother) and Rachel if I was a girl. Rachel won.

They thought that I was going to be a boy up until the moment I was delivered and my name was going to be Daniel. I actually have a quite a few pictures of me wearing blue when I was a newborn. Oops!

If I was a boy, they were going to name me Daniel Logan. My dad knew as soon as he met my Mom's grandmother that he wanted to name a daughter after her; since their first two kids were boys, there was never any question what my name would be if I was a girl.

My dad wanted to name me Jennifer, but my mom said absolutely not because it was the name of my dad's favorite horse who passed away when they were in high school! haha thank goodness, I would hate to haev been named after a horse!

My name was Frances for three days. At the last second, they changed it. And in my opinion, they chose a worse name! (Not that Frances is a bad name...I just really, really hate my first name).
Also, my brother's name was Ace (yes, as in Ventura)...But changed it to what it is now.

If my dad has his way I would've been named Emily. I wouldn't have minded, I think it's pretty! We're actually considering that name if our LO is a girl. If I was a boy I would've been a junior, Timothy.

My mom wanted to name me "Alabama Lynn" and call me "Ally." Luckily, my aunt talked her out of it. I'm so glad! It sounds like a stripper's name.

My mom wanted to name me Star but there was a girl born in our town the week before me whose name was Star, so my mom had to pick something else (thankfully, my real name is a lot less stripper-ish :).
My dad wanted to name my little sister Surprise, lol!

Apparently my Dad wanted to name me Jenna so badly. In the end, my Mom won the battle and Dad's consolation was Jenna as a middle name.

My mom really, really wanted to name me Ballard, but my dad hated the name. It would have been kind of funny if they had named me Ballard, as I grew up in Seattle – living in the neighborhood right next to the Ballard neighborhood. So, everyone would have assumed I was named after that part of the city.
My mom also wanted to name me Kitty. Not Katherine, with Kitty for short – just Kitty. Thankfully my dad also put the kibosh on that one as well.

I was going to be Bethany. But then my mom had twins (didn't know until they did an ultrasound when she went into labor). So then they had to come up with two names. If any of us were boys (we had 3 girls first) we were going to be Kenneth (kenny).

I was almost three different things before they settled on Jessica (AKA,. the quintessential 1980-1990 white girl name). In order of when they were dropped I was almost:
1. Megan
2. Robyn
3. Gertrude
Soooo I personally don't mind being a Jessica that much!

I was almost Georgia Rae (which I actually love, it after one of my mom's favorite songs) and my best friend in college was almost Stevie Rae so it would have been perfect lol.

Boy, I would have been Christopher. The other Girl name was Jennifer. I'm glad I'm not a Jennifer. Just wouldn't be me.

If I were a boy I would have been Gregory (my dad says he has no recollection of agreeing to Gregory... but mom says that would have been my name whether he liked it or not!). When I was born and they found out I was a girl they almost named me Samantha. My mom's friend talked her out of it because she said everyone would think of Bewitched!! I do like the name Samantha, but mom says she would have called me Sam, which I don't love for a girl.

I'm pretty sure I was Erin from the word "pregnant." There was not even another consideration. If I was a boy, I would have been Kevin.
They had a harder time with my little sister. If she'd been a boy, she was going to be Kellen (after Kellen Winslow, the football player, whom my dad loved). But they had no idea for a girl. I eventually helped pick out her name (Callie).

My mom was convinced that she would be having a boy and a girl twin, so she had picked out Carrie and Bill. Instead, 2 girls showed up! Thankfully I'm not a Bill.

My dad wanted to name me Christine Joy, but my mom won with her made up combination name (which I prefer because it's unique). My dad got to keep Joy as my second name, though.

I was almost named Patricia Marie (my middle name is still Marie). I'm so glad its not because I'm not a fan of the name Patricia- probably because I've disliked every Patricia I know.
