My mom tried to name me Timber. True story. My grandmother saved me from a lifetime of teasing and eventually talked her out of that one. Thank goodness. If I were a boy I would have been named Zachary.

I was almost Charity but my aunt convinced them that I would get picked on for it. Not that I didn't get called Hanna Banana my whole life...

I would have been Joel if I had been a boy, and that's what they named my younger brother.

I could have been Samantha but my Dad says he looked at me and decided he didn't want people to call me Sam as a nickname. Funny is that my brother would have been Robin had he been a girl, now my husband (don't tell that I am saying this) is naming out son Robin. He says it is after Robin Hood. I just know our son will be teased do I'm going to use his middle name and hope it sticks. Do u think he will be teased?

I was nearly Michelle Stephanie. Not a bad name, but it was because my dad's name is Michael Stephen... so kind of lame... I'm glad they decided to go a different direction.

If I was a boy I was going to be Jayden (back in the 80s, before the name was super popular).
The other girl name they liked for me was Megan. Glad they picked Heather!

If I had been a boy, my name would have been Ahmad...Rashad.LMAO Yes, my dad was into sports big time. My dad was going to name us if we were boys and my mom us girls.

Now that i think about it, we did like them, We were Team Green (they had no choice but to wait back then,LOL) and I chose her name if she was going to be a girl and he if she had been a boy..weird...

@MsMamaBear: haha my husband tried that on me and there was nooo way I was going to let him have that kind of control when I was the one going through pregnancy to make the kid! And I had known ahead of time what my husband would have named our son before we conceived, so there was no way I was having it
But we discuss things well and were able to agree.

Caoilainn Siobhan (would have been pronounced KAY-lin sha-VAHN).

At the end, though, my father decided that I was going to be their last child, and only daughter, and that no matter what I did or who I became I would always be his little princess, so I was named Sarah Caitlin (because Sarah means princess, and Caitlin is close to Caoilainn, but also closer to my mom's name Cathryn).

I was almost Janine because it sounds phonetically close to my Chinese name.

I was almost Brandy. My Grandma talked my mom out of it. I don't think it would have suited me at all!

I was almost Catherine or Katherine (family name on both sides) but my parents couldn't agree on which spelling to use, so they nixed the name. If I was a boy, I would have been named John Michael.

Either way it would have been the same name, it is old fashioned and works for both boys and girls. My silly hippie parents

My mom's top 2 choices were Abigail and Allison, both of which my dad vetoed.

They knew I was a girl from the start since my mom was already 5 months pregnant when they found out, so there was never a boy possibility.

I would have been Matthew. My parents didn't find out the gender but my mom was sure I was a boy. My dad picked out my name thanks to a Boston song
