I am pretty set on getting one of those Thomas wooden train sets since he is basically obsessed with trains and loves Thomas (so original i am sure!). I am excited to have just decided on a Thomas the train party theme and think the gift will go perfectly and will be something for the kids to play with at the party.
Curious what other people are getting or got their LO when they turned 3.

DH is living vicariously through our son, so he got a power wheel and a gas pump that DH made him.

A bike with pedals and training wheels. Around 2.5 he started saying "we should buy a bike with pedals for my birthday" so we did!
Unfortunately, the one we got (ordered online) was really heavy and he didn't ride it much. We got him a new, lightweight bike with no pedals this summer and he can ride it easily now.

We got our son a wooden Thomas set for his second birthday and he's played with it pretty much every day since! For his 3rd birthday this month, he'll be getting a collection of add-on pieces to extend his play.

My LO just turned 3 and our gift was tickets to a Day Out With Thomas where they have this giant Thomas you can ride on, meet Sir Topam Hatt, etc. It was awesome and came through our area at the perfect time.

We bought LO a balance bike for his 3rd birthday with a few Thomas trains. He wasn't excited for the bike and didn't get into it until a year later. My train obsessed kid has played with his train table everyday since we bought it when he was 2. Great purchase! We bought a regular table from TRU and had a lot of Thomas trains. He doesn't mind that it's not the official Thomas table since he has all of the trains.

He will be getting magnatiles, big bruder trucks, trains for his train set (thomas trains and brio trains), and I would really like to get him either a wooden fire station (kidcraft brand) or a parking garage (plan or hape brand).

Her birthday party is costing us a pretty penny so we won't get her a separate gift. She'll get plenty and is at an age where she wouldn't really remember which special presents were from us v. friends/family.

She got..
Balance bike from grandma/grandpa. A Lego set from her my brother (she's been into building Legos), and a doll high chair from us.
She is having a small party with a couple of her friends on Sunday, so she'll prob get some more stuff.

We went in on a powerwheels John Deere tractor with his grandfather. He also recorded a scooter, books, clothes, a Bruder crane, and a pirate ship.

One thing I really love about the Thomas series is the add ons, like Knapford Station and Tidmouth Sheds. In hindsight, what I'd probably do is buy generic tracks and splurge on the accessories and engines.

She turned 3 yesterday she got a small tablet as her "big gift", a Belle doll, and some my little ponies.
her grandparents bought her a bike and helmet which was our original gift idea, but they asked if they could do that since they bought our niece her first, they wanted to make it a tradition and we said no problem.
