I don't really get the appeal of keeping gender, name or EDD private. I would want my family and friends to be excited right along with me. But I'm pretty thick skinned and confident in my decisions, so anyone's comments weren't going to make me question a name we picked. I also have very supportive friends and family, which I realize isn't the case for everyone.

We were team green and we kept our name choices secret. I also kind of kept my edd a secret.... I already knew how people get when your edd gets near and I didn't want a ton of comments, calls, fb messages, etc saying "Is the baby here yet?".. "You're STILL pregnant" blah blah blah. I also didn't share when I went into labor until I was well into active labor and we only told immediate family & asked them not to share.

Next time we won't be team green but we plan on keeping the same secrets.

We kept the name quiet. I don't understand keeping the due date quiet!!! I think that leads to people asking more questions.

Well we were Team Green so the sex was a secret, obviously. We didn't share our names short list mostly because we were having trouble narrowing down a name and we didn't want input. Lastly we didn't really share the specific due date (we said early-mid August) because I didn't want a billion questions about whether or not I was in labor. Spoiler: those questions happened anyway

Nothing really- With my girls if we knew the gender we shared. We never had a name picked before hand but did share our lists.

I guess you could say we kept that I was in labor a secret, but we had no intention of anyone coming to the hospital so we just called my mom to take care of our older kids and let the rest of our family know after the baby was here.

We are keeping gender quiet (obviously since we are team green). We are also keeping the name quiet b/c if it's a boy it will have my maiden name which I know will blow my parents out of the water so I want it to be a great surprise. If it's a girl she will have my mother's name (and coincidentally DH's mother's name) as her middle name so we want that to be a surprise too.

The only thing we kept private (shared with parents and close friends, but not the general public) was that they found LO had a heart defect in utero. It was very stressful for us, and we didn't want to share that news with many people and we insisted our parents keep the news quiet.

(She has been totally cleared by the pediatric cardiologist; her heart issue resolved itself after birth, thank goodness!)

The only thing we kept a secret was my induction date to *most* people. This time id like to keep name a secret(but probably won't happen) and my csection date. But I know neither if our families will let either of those things happen easily, if at all

I answered 'Other' because we've kept nearly everything private. Not sharing the name, I'm vague about my due date, pretty much everything. Its mostly because I'm a very introverted and private person, and my husband has a very public type job where a lot of people think they 'know' us but they don't...so I get a lot of questions from people I don't really know and don't feel close to. It just feels intrusive.

I'm an open book, so if they ask, I answer. My kid's name so if you don't like it, too bad! You can name your kid whatever you want. This one's mine. Thanks!

I was deliberately vague about our due date because I didn't want any hassles if we went overdue and although we didn't have a name picked out (team green) we did have a list that we kept private

I voted nothing, but I guess depending on how you look at it we keep the name private. I am a terrible decision maker and have never committed to a name before my babies were born. I do share ideas we have though. We usually narrow it down to 2 or 3 names and then decide once the baby arrives.

I kept the name a secret because I didn't want anyone using it/call the baby by it prior to her birth. Also, my husband and I wanted to keep SOMETHING to ourselves.

Just name, we didn't want anyone influencing our decision. We have many teachers in our families, so we didn't want to hear about horrible children with the same name. We also weren't 100% on the name until we saw him (more like 99%), we wanted to make sure we made the right decision before anyone bought name stuff for us.

I honestly don't understand keeping the due date a secret. I never ran into problems with people nagging me when I would deliver, everyone assumed he would be late as a first baby anyway. We both had to schedule our leaves from work, so it wouldn't have been a secret anyway.
