Were they into it? I've been to a string of first birthday parties as of late and no one's LO has been particularly taken by the smash cake!

She picked at it and ate it but didn't dig in like I would have liked her too!

DD poked at hers. DS didn't get one.
My friend made a small smash cake for her DD and put strawberries on top. Little girl gobbled it all up!

She poked at it and played with the frosting. My friend's lo, on the other hand, was super into his smash cake. He started off slow but then started karate chopping at it ... It was hilarious. Definitely the best reaction I've seen

DS looooved his smash cake. He started by putting one hand on either side of the cake into the frosting and squishing, and the look of delight on his face was the best thing ever. Then he went in with his face and started eating, and he wouldn't have stopped if we didn't eventually take it away from him.

M ate almost half of it, mostly the frosting. She was also trying to share it with everyone who walked by, and was confused why no one else was eating her cake! However, the amount she ended up eating led to a very upset tummy that night
Still a great story...

DS picked the decorative frosting off from around the edge very neatly. Then he started digging in once it was all off lol.

She hated the sprinkles and frosting. I scraped the frosting off and she liked the cake.

She LOVED it! And we just let her keep going and going because it was completely healthy and had no sugar, so why limit her?

She wasn't that interested at first. She picked at the frosting very daintily. Then we helped by breaking the cake a bit so she could dig around some.

@Arden: did you make the cake yourself? Do you happen to have a recipe on hand if so?
I'm already thinking about DS's smash cake and would really like it to be healthy!

She picked it up and ate it like it was no big thing. There was no smashing involved.

@coopsmama: I experimented with a few different recipes to come up with it. I'm going to blog about them this week, I'll wall you a link when I do.

we gave her a cupcake with frosting and she poked at the frosting and then looked at her hands and got this disgusted look on her face. so...she didn't like it.

@Arden: Thank you so much! I'm excited to see what you came up with!

She was horrified. Wanted nothing to do with it. Which was fine by us because we ate it and it was delicious.

Um, ate it?!? Like literally didn't flinch and just went at it.
His wasn't really a smash cake, it was just like a gigantic price of his normal cake. I have a 3tier homemade cake and he had the top tier.

D barely even gave it a second glance. He was so disinterested. I was kind of sad.
