@twodoghouse: I've ben doing some marketing at work. It's interesting and I am getting tempted to ask my boss to pay for a continuing ed class in graphic design or marketing since it's not my background.
I'm the Retail Business Development Manager for a dry-cleaners and DH is their route manager. Essentially I design promotions and customer outreach, manage our social media and apps, plus fill in wherever else they are short (drive shuttle, work counter, assemble orders, etc). It's a lot of fun.

@lemondrop: best job ever! Especially if you do a lot of professional networking..then you start getting invited to author/publisher dinners and whatnot. So fun! And since I work in a school, I still get all the holidays, spring break, and summers off. And I get paid what a teacher with an MA makes, (but shhh...secret..I don't have any grading).
The only downside is major job insecurity. All across the nation, library budgets are being cut, so if a school district is facing budget cuts, they obviously aren't going to let their math, science, and english teachers go.....so it's the librarian, art teacher, etc. Same with public libraries. There are fewer actual librarians and more library workers without an MLS, since they can pay them less.

@lemondrop: Agreed! I love running into other library gals on here, and I was surprised how many there are! It's a fun field to be in! With it's problems, as @Anagram: points out. Budget cuts are the scariest thing out there, for us in public universities too! No fun! aaand I think I want to be a public school librarian and go to author dinners!!! How fun is that?!

I am a SAHM (degreed in Elementary Ed.) and my husband is a self-termed "farmineer;" he has a degree in engineering and runs a farm with his dad. He used to do some part-time engineering, but as he takes over more and more of the farm and its management he is finding he doesn't have enough time.
