For me, I think a baby over 8 lbs, 8 ounces is big!

Most babies are small to me. Lol
But yeah, probably over 9lbs.

Probably 9 lbs. Mine was 8 lb 13 oz and I considered him big, though (and he was a week early). I'm only 5' tall, so he was quite large compared to mommy

I used to think over 9 pounds, but then DS was born 9lbs1oz and felt teeny tiny to me!! Lol

@lilteacherbee: I agree-- that is big! Officially 4 kg or 8 lbs 13 oz may have it...and unofficially, anything over about 8.5 lbs seems like a big newborn to me!

@autumnlove: my LO was exactly 8 lbs 8 oz and I considered her a big baby. Especially bc DH and I are not tall/large people and everyone thought we'd have a petite baby
I think >9lbs is a big baby

Ten and over seems big to me. But DS was 8 lbs 15 oz and everyone said he was huge.

8.5+ seems big to me. I was surprised C was just over 8 lbs, even though according to my mom "we have big babies".

I'd generally say 9+, but E was 8lb,12oz of pure muscle and seemed huge (to everyone, not just me!)
ETA: Our hospital considered him a "big baby" and monitored his glucose for the first 24 hours!

Ummm anything over 8. Good thing my biggest was 8 lbs exactly.

Over 9. T was 8lbs 9oz and I don't feel like he was that big.
He was also next to a 10.5 pounder in the nursery though!!
ETA: I had a c section. If I had pushed him out I may change my mind on how big he seemed. Haha!!!

I think over 9...but maybe 8.5? DS was 7 lbs 5 oz and I thought he seemed so tiny! I'm not sure if over 8 would have seemed huge or normal.

@Danizaur: ha! I pushed out an 8lb 9oz baby. I thought of her as healthy and strong but not huge. Overall 9+ sounds right to me

Large for gestational age is 8 lb 13 oz at term, but there's a graph to determine if your baby is lga.

@lovehoneybee: T was 8-13 and also had his glucose monitored, but I think the cutoff for that was 8-12 at our hospital. He was a borderline case and it did not turn out to be a problem. He was also 11 days overdue. (My water broke at 10pm on Day 9, and he was born at 1am on Day 11.)

Anything over 4kg (I believe this equals 8lbs 13oz) I consider big.
