I only ever take it off to bake, like when I'm handling dough. Or I guess if I'm making something that is pretty hands-on.
Otherwise I never take it off, not to shower, gym, swim etc.
Oh, last summer I did take it off when I went tubing.

I pretty much never wear my rings at home. They go in my jewelry box when I change out of my work clothes and I don't put them back on until I leave in the morning. I never notice my rings when I'm out but I feel like they get in the way when I'm home. I'm also afraid of them falling off when I cooking or showering.

I never wear my rings at home either, i spend more time out of them than in them.

My wedding band or my engagement ring? I wear my wedding band almost all the time. I take it off to make play dough and when I went zip lining in the rainforest on our honeymoon. I don't wear my engagement ring much. It was ripping my hair out in the shower, so I took it off to shower, then some of the pave diamonds in the setting got knocked out at work (no idea how or where they ate now), so I just wear the band now. Although the band has pave diamonds covering the top so I'm not sure why I think it'll fare any better lol

My rings are off the majority of the time I am home. I won't wear them to do a lot off things because I worry about them or they get in the way. I have a nice little ring box for them to live in when I'm not wearing them.
eggplant / 11824 posts
I take them off when I get home from work and put them in their ring box, then put them back on before I leave the house. Really never wear them while at home though.

goodness you all must have huge rings lol mine never get in the way and my finger feels naked without it!

Nothing. I got a plain gold band for a reason!
My e-ring, however, comes off all the time.

Only to put on self tanner or to put chlorine in the pool (the jeweler said chlorine turns white gold yellow)

I take mine off to shower, when I go to sleep, and when I clean. I can't sleep with any jewelry on, it makes me feel constricted.
pomelo / 5321 posts
I take mine off if I'm handling any kind of raw meat or if I'm applying lotion.

Washing dishes, showering, sleeping, swimming, skiing. Oh and if I'm making meatloaf or bread or anything that gets icky on my hands.

I pretty much never take them off. I have a habit now of touching the tips of my thumbs to the insides of my ring fingers to check for the rings, and if I don't feel them I panic immediately. Totally involuntarily happens several times an hour. Haha. I'm of the camp of the safest place for it is on your finger. I even wore it while snowboarding (inside my gloves). I only take them off to clean them, and when I get manicures I usually put them on the chain around my neck.

I take them off to mix dough or touch raw meat.

I take it off pretty much as soon as I get home. I don't wear it while cooking, sleeping, doing dishes, showering, etc. I also take it off when I'm washing my hands regardless of where I am. I hate the feeling of water underneath my rings and my fingers being wet so I tuck it in my pocket, wash and dry, then put it back on.

I don't wear my engagement ring, and my wedding band is just a plain gold band, so pretty much never. Except it's on a chain around my neck now because my fingers have been replaced by swollen sausages and I was having nightmares about it having to be cut off. My finger is still feeling sad and naked.
nectarine / 2797 posts
Right now my hands are too swollen so I haven't worn my wedding set in almost a month but before that I took them off usually at the end of the day right before bed and put them on after I shower in the morning.

Only when I'm putting lotion or hair goop on or when I'm kneeding dough or meat. DH takes his off for sex. I tease him that he liked single sex better.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@mrs. wagon: same here. I freak if it's not on my finger. I have one of those unconscious checks for it too, my ring is a little big for my finger, by maybe 1/4 of a size. so it's constantly sliding to the side, and I always scoot my middle finger against it to straighten it. I do that when I'm not wearing my ring and realize it's not on my finger!
I hate the feeling of it not being there.
@Grace: lol that's funny. why sex?! that seems so weird to me.
DH NEVER takes his off. Even when handling dough. But he also has just a band with no crevices for dough to get stuck.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@Grace: shouldn't it be the opposite? like it should feel weird to have marital sex with no ring on lol

My wedding band only comes off when it's really hot out and my fingers swell. My engagement ring is off 90% of the time only because it was originally a bit snug and with all the pregnancy weight I'm still carrying, it rarely fits.

Only to shower, or if I am doing something messy in the kitchen (which is rare!).
apricot / 468 posts
Mine comes off when applying any lotion or sunscreen. Also, every night when I go to bed because it's a marquise cut and it's very sharp and my hubby got REALLY tired of me scratching him and giving him welts with it! It doesn't go back on until after I shower the next day!
nectarine / 2180 posts
@EEH I also hate the feeling of water underneath my rings!
I pretty much never wear mine at home. I've always been paranoid about losing the diamond down the drain or something. I take all my jewelry off as soon as I get home.
pear / 1764 posts
I take my ring off to shower/bathe, sleep & if I'm doing anything messy, like baking. We registered for a crystal ring holder that matched some of our other wedding items, & now I am so glad we did! I use it everyday!
apricot / 367 posts
I take my engagement ring off a lot. I usually will wear my wedding band on a daily basis. I do take off my rings when I am showering, cleaning, or sleeping. Mr. D and I are walking about trading in my e-ring and wedding bands and getting one larger, fancier band. That way I wear it more.

I took my engagement ring off to cut up chicken. Never found it again
I don't take my ring off for anything now.

I almost never wear my rings anymore. They get too mucked up with all the handwashing, cooking and diaper changing.
I do wear them when we go out as a family, but during the week, I mostly don't ever put it on. I do love my rings, though, I will get back to wearing them more at some point.
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
I hardly wear my rings either, usually only on the weekends.

Showering, kneading dough and occasionally to sleep. That's engagement and wedding rings.
I do the thumb on ring finger check all the time too and my heart skips a beat or two every time it's not there
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
I take mine off as soon as I get home, I change out of work clothes and take rings off before starting dinner. I hate cooking/doing dishes and having my ring on. So pretty much I only wear it out when I'm out in public, DH doesn't mind.

i take my rings off as soon as i get home. i accidentally hit one of my pugs very close to the eye with my engagement ring once and since then i've always taken them off when i'm hanging out at home.
