I'm surprised people are so open about smoking it! We take nightly walks with the dog and baby, and most nights can smell it coming from various houses in our neighborhood. People are much more likely to at least attempt to hide it here in AZ.

I'm not a fan of second hand smoke whether it is regular cigarettes or marijuana- although I think the latter is more pleasant to smell People standing in the middle of a sidewalk blocking it bothers me almost as much as getting a lung-full of smoke!

When I lived in Boulder, Colorado people would get ticketed for marijuana use very frequently. Especially on 4/20 While a fun past time, my husband and I feel that we have way to much to lose these days to partake, but the smell on our walks brings back good times.

We went to Venice Beach the first day of our honeymoon while waiting for a flight and you couldn't walk two feet without smelling pot. Amazing the disparity between locations!

I understand why you're upset, Mr. Bee, but think of it if you were to analogize it to smoking cigarettes. You are worried about the secondhand smoke impacts on your LOs, but, for those smokers, they aren't allowed (whether by actual rules or by common courtesy) to smoke indoors. So really, they already are in the most courteous place to do their smoking. (I'm trying to form this argument from the perspective if legalization were to occur, which is a possibility in some states in the not so distant future). I don't think there's a medical risk from quickly walking through a cloud of pot smoke, so you and the LOs are probably okay, just as long as you don't sit near a group of smokers at the park. But it would be nice of them to stand aside if they're blocking the sidewalk when you need to go by!

I don't know what I think about it to be honest, I am trying to think about it from the perspective of being a parent and my son's exposure...I certainly don't want him to see it, but he's not of the age yet where I can explain what is happening and he would understand, so it's a tough call.

I would seriously consider printing out informative posters with emotionally charged language and compelling evidence about the hazards of secondhand smoke to an infant and toddler ... and maybe said posters will happen to find their way on stoops and sidewalks ...

or I'd call and complain to the manager and anyone else in charge of upholding the integrity of the neighborhood. Someone has got to be interested in maintaining public safety, especially for our most precious resource, our babies!

BTW: I'm pro legalizing marijuana.

I don't like it, but I also don't like cigarette smoke. I think smoking in general is gross. If it's something I can quickly pass by, then I wouldn't ever say anything. But if for instance people were smoking in front of our building and it was drifting up to our apartment, I would absolutely say something, especially being pregnant/having kids.

I hate it because it give me extensive headache... even from a mile away i can smell it. i do think with kids around it's definitely a no-no, but same applies to smoking for me.

I will agree with others that walking through any smoke is not desirable, but that I'd rather walk through pot smoke than cigarette smoke!

It seriously annoys me because second hand smoke gives me headaches. I can't stand the smell of pot either.

When I was single, I didn't mind. Now that I have kids, I hate it! I can't open the windows in my house without smelling it because so many neighbors smoke frequently (mostly teens but there is one family that does as well). Maybe I've just become an old fart.

I hate the smell of weed. Hate. Ugh. And our wonderful, family friendly neighborhood has had several grow houses pop up lately, so we've been smelling it more and more often. I feel like we can't even take a walk these days without passing by at least one person toking it up!

I'm also pro-legalization, so I have no answers. But I can totally commiserate!

I cant stand people smoking marjuana or cigarettes near sidewalks or places where I have to walk past them with my baby. Why do I have to breathe in your smoke whilst walking on a public sidewalk

I think "pass the j!"...Although I'm a mom now so that's not cool anymore. Seriously though, walking through other people's smoke isn't fun whether it be cigarette or pot, it bothers me a little if it's just me but a lot if DD is the one breathing it in. Even worse than smoke in my opinion is the stench of urine on the streets. We get that a lot in Paris, but it's pretty rare to catch someone in the act.
