So many people smoke marijuana while they walk the streets of brooklyn (or sit on their stoops). Before I had kids, I was mildly annoyed by the practice; I actually support legalization, but think it's just common courtesy to not smoke pot in a public area.

But now that I have kids, I get much more upset. I'm stroller napping Charlie right now (darn jet lag), and we just walked through a huge cloud of pot smoke. Turns out some neighbors are toking up on their stoop. Last night, I walked through a crowd of about 8 people who were all smoking pot in the middle of the sidewalk. They were blocking the entire sidewalk so there was no way around them.

Both nights Charlie passed out shortly after, so maybe a whiff of pot smoke is his sleep cue. I'm annoyed though. Even if all 8 people have medical marijuana prescriptions, I wish they wouldn't smoke in sidewalks and on stoops. Still I have to admit, smoking outdoors during a nice balmy evening is probably a much better experience for them!

What do you think of people smoking marijuana on the sidewalks as they walk (or hang out) around the city? Has your answer changed since you had kids?
