I guess I don't see the issue since people are giving girls boy names and boys girl names now! I guess I have lots of time to think about it since I am not even prego haha!
Another question, what is it that kids are going to make fun of? That it is a weird name or that it is superman's real name because our other name is Logan and lord forbid he gets made fun of because he is named after wolverine

I generally don't think that names have to be meaningful to be used by parents, I just think that names should be easy to pronounce, spell and sound good with the last name.
You can give your kid a name like Jack and he can still be called "dopey" or "superman" by his friends, depending on his actions/behavior.
I personally wouldn't choose the name for my son, but he's also named after a TV character, just not an obvious one.

@cyndistar3: loooove Logan! But you should name your LO what the two of you want. You don't need to justify it to anyone. Your baby, your rules! I think people were just giving their gut reactions because you asked.

@cyndistar3: I LOVE the name Logan, but Hubs totally associates it with Wolverine. And I think, no matter what you do, your kid is going to get picked on for their name. I have a very NORMAL name, but kids still found ways to change it to make fun of me. So your kid is going to have to deal with that whether they are named Matthew or Kal-El! So go with what you love!

@cyndistar3: big superman fan?
I like it with the hyphen personally. And I think kids could be teased for ANY name, even "normal" ones.

Kal-El is a name that was invented for the comic series where Logan, or Clark or Kent, are pretty classic names that just happen to be used for super heroes. I actually think both are really cool. I'm kind of a comic book nerd & love super hero names. I love Kevin Smith's daughter's name: Harley Quinn!

I love comics and adore Supes, but Kal-El is up there with North West IMO.

@cyndistar3: fwiw, my nephew is named your second name choice - on purpose after the character, lol. No one has ever said anything about it

What about Kal as a first name and El or (an L name) as middle?
I agree with Rainbow Sprinkles, it sounds like i'm stuttering when I say it
