My parents own several schools that teach ESL (english as a second language) to domestic and international students. They've been doing that for over 25 years.
What do your parents do? Are you in the same field as one of your parents?

My dad's a foot doctor and my mom is his office manager.
He actually has a degree in psychology though, and my mom has a degree in recreational therapy. I have a degree in art therapy, so we did get similar education, but I'm currently a SAHM.

My dad is an emergency room physician. He and my mom travel to third-world countries and he donates his time and services for several months at a time. My mom was a marriage and family therapist but now that she and my dad travel full-time, she supports his efforts!
At the moment, I'm a stay-at-home wife but now that I'm over the worst of morning sickness, I need to find some more clients. I do healthcare PR consulting.

My dad is a lawyer and growing up he worked at a law firm (about 10 years ago he started his own practice). My mom was a dental hygienist (but stayed home with me and my siblings until I was in 6th grade) then she went back to work part time.
To my father's dismay, I also became a lawyer!

My mom was/is a SAHM and my dad is a nuclear engineer. I'm a preschool teacher. My parents tried to get me to go to college for something that would pay more than teaching, and while the pay is depressing sometimes, its what I love.

That's awesome your parents have been teaching ESL for over 25 years!!
My mom's a SAHM and my dad's an AME-220 Branch Manager for Administrative Systems. I followed my dad's footsteps in regards to my degree (MIS and Accounting), but I'm a Senior IT and Financial Analyst. My parents would "die happy" if I changed jobs to work in the same field as my dad though. It's their DREAM!!

My parents are both retired but my mom used to be a programmer within the Toshiba company (but don't let that fool you, she doesn't know how to even turn on a PC or laptop!) and my dad struggled to find his niche but eventually became a carpenter - self taught!

my mom(s) used to be nurses, both retired. My stepdad works in a factory. My biological dad owns two clothing/shoe stores.

Growing up my dad did jewelry wholesale and also had a retail store. My mom worked with him. Then she got her real estate license when I was in grade school and she has been doing that ever since. My dad eventually left the jewelry business and went into real estate, too. He is now retired, though.

My dad worked in corporate America when I was young. Then he owned his own hobby business for 10 years. Now he does online sales for an electronics sales warehouse.
My mom was a social worker, but filed for disability when I was 10 and she quit working around then. She helped my dad when he had his business, but never had her own separate job. Now she occasionally works with my dad at the warehouse. Otherwise, she doesn't work.
I don't do any of those things, nor do I plan to.

When I was young, my dad was in the military but later owned his own company. He was an inventor and had a few patents. My Mom has been working in the same small company for almost 30 years now. I have a degree in business but for the last few years work as an English teacher, now only part-time and online.

Mom is a nurse, dad is the GM of a tool and mould shop. I toyed with going into the manufacturing industry like my dad as an engineer (did 3 years of Eng. undergrad) but it's not for me. I could never in a ZILLION years be a nurse, I give my mom all the credit in the world.

My mother is a nutritionist. She's also in school to further her career. My dad is a lawyer. He does mostly consulting for politicians. They have a pretty good gig, both can make their own hours and have been able to remain available for their kids when needed.

My dad is engineer as am I (though different disciplines). Though my mum has been working since forever, she doesn't have a career; she has the responsibility of a SAHM but works to contribute financially (well, now she works 'cause she's used to it and still has years before retirement)

They're small business owners like a lot of their generation Korean(Americans)... They owned cleaners for the majority of their life here and now run my aunt's (retired) beauty supply store... my dad's thinking about getting another cleaners in a nicer neighborhood and my mom will retire to babysit our babies in the future.
FIL is a retired small business owner. He used to own several bowling alleys, so DH grew up throwing the best bday parties and participating in a lot of big events with the local sports teams and such... (: FIL is in the middle of trying to get bought out by his leasee right now... if he doesn't buy we may have to take over in the future.
MIL is a veteran nurse (ER for 20 years) now in the radiology unit.
Neither of us followed our parents' footsteps. DH is a bank manager and heavily enjoys all things finance. I am a proposal consulat and heavily enjoy all things writing.

My dad is a Pilot for UPS and my mom use to be a small bussiness owner but now works Admin for a trucking company.
Growing up with my Dad as a pilot gave me the love of aviation and that is what geared me into flying in the Navy.

My parents are missionaries, but before that they were in the military. My dad was a crew chief, and worked on F-15 fighter jets.
My mom was always a SAHM until they became missionaries.

My dad is an environmental engineer. He's usually worked for large cities as a civil servant. He retired from a position as Director of Public Works and then, after a little time off went back to work at a private consulting firm.
My mom was a high school teacher, but stopped working when my older brother was born. She started a second career at a Christian Educator (the professionals who coordinate education programs for churches) when I was around 10.
My degrees are in psychology and counselling, but now I work with my husband in our own business.

My dad is a Fiscal Officer for the Probation Department of our county. My mom is the Manufacturing Manager at a semiconductor.
My degree is in genetics, and I do biotech research...so nothing like either of them.

They both retired in their 50s but Mom was a teacher and Dad was a salesman/Sr Mgr for a consumer products company that he worked for for 34 years.

My dad works with loan processing software. He worked for State Street for 15 years and the technology he's an expert in was replaced-- all the big banks upgraded and he got laid off and couldn't find another job for a long time. Being of almost retirement age and in high-tech is scary-- he started taking classes for the new technology but he would be competing with 22 year old college grads who would work for 1/4 of his salary requirement. So he opened a pack and ship store (like a UPS store) and that tanked. Finally he got a job with an old colleague who started a consulting company for smaller banks who can't afford to switch over yet.... but my parents had to move from Boston to Philly. They'd lived in Boston for almost 30 years, ever since they came from Korea as newlyweds, so that sucked for them. But they're doing ok down there now.
My mom worked as a business manager for a dental practice for many years but when they moved down there, she couldn't find another job, so I guess she's retired now. They're both of retirement age but my dad's not ready to retire yet. I wish they would retire and move back here.

My mom works in the medical field and my dad hasn't had a real job for years. He supposedly does side jobs here and there, but I have no clue what he does.
