@SweetiePie:
DH and I had a name for a boy and a girl before we even got engaged. We were talking about children and we just felt super strongly about both names, so we've always felt that God would give us a boy and a girl (living children anyway).
We had no idea then that we would go through 3 years of struggle to have our son. I got a positive pregnancy test after our initial round of testing at IVF that showed our chances of naturally conceiving were extremely poor and that we would probably need ICSI. Based on that information and my chart for that month, the fact that my son was conceived makes literally no sense. Like, I would have had to have ovulated on CD 35 and and we were traveling for Christmas, so those swimmers would have had to have survived for like a week.
Our son's name is Samuel, which means "because I asked the Lord for him." In the Bible, Samuel's mother Hannah gave the name, who went through years of unexplained fertility before the Lord granted her a son. Little did we know when we were dating how appropriate that name would be for our miracle baby.

@mrschickpea: thank you!
I love name meaning stories. Meaning was really important to us, and we fell in love with our girl name because of our previous losses. We both agreed that if we had a boy, we'd keep the girl name for later. We were TG and both surprised and elated that she was a girl, not least so we could use her name!
