Did he trade in his car for a family friendly car?
DH had a truck with an extended cab and we thought it would work with twins but the seats wouldn't slide back enough for DH to drive comfortably. He now has an SUV. He said he would drive a minivan if we didn't find the right SUV.

I voted 4 door car but in reality we sold his Mini Cooper when DD1 was 6 months old to get an outback that I drive and he started driving my old Scion xB.

I have the family car and he downgraded from an SUV to a small commuter type car to save money. We can all fit in his car but when we go out together we typically just take mine since it is bigger and more luxurious. His basically just needs to get him the few miles to/from work.

We had a two door Cavalier when we got married. When I got pregnant we bought a second car, a VW Golf Wagon. A little prematurely, as it turned out, because I had lost the pregnancy by the time we picked the car up (the dealership lady wouldn't shut up about how I didn't seem excited and I wanted to punch her). Two years later I got pregnant again and when B was 4 months we traded the Cavalier for a four door Jetta.

We are currently battling over this. We are a one-car family right now, so we both drive our Nissan Versa. We are planning to get a second vehicle, and I would prefer a minivan. He wants an SUV. He wants 4WD, but we don't off-road anymore and I'd prefer something more family oriented and lower to the ground.

We kept our Honda Fit (one car family). We live in the city and don't use it much though. DH jokes about getting a new car but when I ask him if he really wants one, he's usually quick to point out that we really don't need one.

He traded in his Camaro for a Cadilac CTS V, which is a sedan with a sports car engine. He had been talking about getting a Raptor for the longest time, but opted for something I don't mind driving as well. His car is now our new family car.

He drives a coupe. We only take my car (suv) as a family and he just uses his car to commute back and forth to work. So it works for us. I have to do pickup and dropoff to preschool anyway since his work hours start earlier and end later than they are there. But on days when he gets out early we go together for pickup in my car.

A Tesla Model S.
We traded in the Toyota Venza (which was technically my car) for it. Now, I have the Nissan Leaf, which was my husband's previous commuter car.

We used to share my Corolla from pre-kid days until DH switched jobs and had to drive to work. So he has my Corolla and I got an SUV. We hate the gas mileage on the SUV so we drive the Corolla whenever we have to go anywhere all together.

We share our one car (Jeep Grand Cherokee) but we sold my Jeep Wrangler months before I got pregnant because we knew a Wrangler wouldn't work with a baby. DH didn't have a car when we met since we live in the city.

DH has two cars, a Hyundai Elantra he drives mostly for work (but we still have a car seat in it) and a Toyota Tundra double cab. The Tundra has plenty of room for car seats, as long as the rear facing one is in the middle or passenger side (I'm short, I don't need much leg room).
We bought the Tundra before kids, but we went with the double cab knowing we would have kids eventually and need to fit car seats back there. The Hyundai is a recent purchase as my husband is travelling more for work and needed something with better gas mileage. Knowing he might be doing daycare pick up with it we wanted to make sure to get something car seats could fit in as well.

@KT326: Yeah, DH had a Tacoma with the largest cab offered. He just couldn't put his seat back and not hit the car seat behind it. I have a CRV and it has a bit more room that DH could drive with a car seat behind the seat.

He's currently driving his Toyota Camry, but once that kicks the bucket we'll be in the market for a 3rd-row SUV or minivan.

@bluestriped bee: That is one of the reasons we went with the Tundra over the Tacoma. It's a big truck (I hate parking it!) but it has so much room in the back. Although now that I think about it I don't think we could fit a rear facing seat behind the driver. So with two rear facing I'm not sure how/if they would fit.

@KT326: DH has a Highlander now. The second row slides so there is plenty of room for DH to keep the driver seat all the way back. The 4Runner does drive more truck like but does not have a sliding second row (at least in the model we looked at). The Highlander is nice because it does drive like a car. It's still a bit big for me but I could drive it.

@bluestriped bee: Nice! I'll have to keep that in mind, we may be replacing our Mazda in a few years. A sliding second row is a great feature.

We got his Honda CRV after we got married and he's still driving that now. Don't plan to change after baby #2 either.

Before LO he had a Mercedes 2-door sport coupe. Smart choice living in New England 
After LO came he traded that for an Audi All-Road wagon, and last year traded that for a Lexus 4-door sedan (can't remember what model).
I've always had an SUV.

We had one sedan that we shared and rarely drive. Then we moved and I need to drive to work and DH drives to a park and ride. He drives out old sedan since it's just a short drive. The car I drive and that we use for family outings is an Outback.

When #3 gets here early next year it'll be the only car that fits all of us.

About a year after we got married we bought two cars together - a four door sedan and a small SUV. DH primarily drives the sedan but we switch when the occasion calls for it. We use both for trips and family outings, just depends on how much stuff we are bring with us.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: We wouldn’t buy an Audi again.
We’ve owned the All-Road and my uncle has owned 2 Audi A-8’s and we rented an Audi A-6 (I think it was an A-6) a few weeks ago in Tuscany and they are the ultimate nanny-car. Loud alarms for everything (sensor alarms if you get within 1-2 feet of anything with the car, so fun times for city driving and parking!), the All-Road wouldn’t let you drive for more than 2 hours straight without sounding an alarm that you should pull over and rest. After 4 hours of driving it would non-stop sound the “rest” alarm until you shut the car off, waited at least 15 minutes and then started it back up. Like, WTF Audi. I’ll determine when I need to take a break from driving, thankyouverymuch!
Incredibly expensive to repair, and both our Audi and both Audis my uncle has had needed a lot of repairs. For comparison, I had a Toyota 4Runner that was the same model year as my husband’s Audi. In 3 years he had taken his in literally countless times, while mine had never needed to be repaired. Just too many cons for us when there are plenty of other comparable cars/features/brands.

He's had his Nissan Altima forever. I have the family car (Acadia). Someday, he'll get a new car and it will likely be a SUV.

We share a car (Honda Civic). He REALLY wants a BMW i3 (the electric car) but it doesn't have enough range to be our only vehicle, and we don't need two cars.

He has a company truck. We also have a VW bus (I don't drive it) that he drives when the weather is nice. The Ford Flex is the family car we selected together- we previously had a Range Rover Sport that was too small for all our stuff, 2 dogs and a baby to go on a trip.

We both have 10+ year old Ford Escapes, but we don't have a car seat in his, so he just uses his for commuting and occasional errands.
We are planning to replace his with a commuter car, preferably electric, at some point in the next few years. We put a refundable deposit down on a Tesla Model 3, but we may end up choosing a different car.

He drives the new minivan because he only drives to the office twice a week. Before that we had 2 sedans. We will replace the other sedan with a commuter car.
