We're going to the beach with family in August and then on a Disney cruise with friends in Nov! I can't wait to see what DD thinks of the ocean.

Ummmm, can I say I'm looking forward to going to a Hawaiian resort with my kids when they are both potty trained and past the age of 3 so I can leave them at the kid's club??
(DS is 18 months and I'm due with #2 in May).
Taking DS on vacation when he was 13 months old was the pits and DH and I agreed to not willingly go on vacation with kids until we are parked at Aulani for a week and our kids are old enough to entertain themselves on the plane with iPads!! So I guess I'm realllly looking forward to a trip sometime in 2019?

We are going to Taiwan in May to take the kids to see their great-grandparents! I really wanted to squeeze in a big travel trip this year before N enters Kindergarten since it'll be harder to schedule off-peak trips once she's in school.

Disney World and Miami in May. We weren't planning on it but DH has to go for work so we decided to tag along
WA coast beach vacation with friends in August!

We are going to LA and Disneyland later this month for my husband's work (he works some, me and LO play a lot!!). we will also be in San Diego for a couple days so we might hit the zoo too, we'll see.
Later this summer Florence and Tuscany!

Nothing planned right now
We always have something in the works, so this is pretty depressing right now.
We were discussing a long Cali weekend for my husband's 40th, but he recently started a new job and they let him off for a pre-planned conference in January. We will probably head back to Savannah in the late summer/early fall to see grandparents.

We're going to France in a few weeks to visit my ILs. We've been tossing around lots of different travel ideas for summer, but haven't decided on anything yet.
@Mrs. High Heels: we are having the same problem since DS starts school in the fall! We won't be able to take anymore random off peak trips.

Disney this Speing! I'm excited. This new FP system is crazy

Disney World in two weeks time!! There's 14 of us going...I can't wait to see C meet her idol (Mulan).
It's our first family vacation since a epic fail trip we took when C was 12 months old (I shudder thinking of that trip...) but I am very hopeful this will be much more enjoyable

@T.H.O.U.: I agree...it's so strange having every.thing. planned months in advance.. I was able to get every FP+ and ADR that we wanted though. The only one I couldn't get initially was Anna&Elsa, but last night someone must have cancelled when i randomly checked and I was able to snag 6!! I am way too excited about it

We're booked for a week in Staniel Cay in July, but may be changing it to Seaside/watercolor if the friends we're traveling with can't make it happen. That's the only thing on the books at this point. I'm sure my husband and I will attempt to get away alone sometime this year.

Possibly a trip to Spain to the family chalet. DH will already be there and I have to decide whether I want to travel there alone with two kids and all the luggage... Not sure it is worth the hassle but I am dying for a holiday!

We are taking our girls on their first ski trip this month, and I am excited! Before kids we used to ski quite a bit, but haven't since I was pregnant with our older daughter who is now 6. I can't wait to get out on skis again!
And this summer we are going to PEI...can't wait!

@Mrs. High Heels: @lamariniere: I know! I feel like I can do it through first grade, but after that, it's got to be a once in a life time kind of thing to pull out of school.
We need to figure out what we're doing with the inlaws when they visit this summer for 10 days.

We just got back from a Disney Vacation on Sunday, so I'm feeling some of the post-vacation blues haha. I guess our next big trip isn't until October. We don't usually vacation during the summer, because we prefer to go places during their off-season when we can get better deals and places are less busy.

@Charm54: I am SO jealous! I was able to snag one (within the 30 day window) for Anna and Elsa. But now I need to figure out how to get a second one so my daughter can go in with an adult.

We're going to Charlotte in June, Dallas in sept, (maybe) Hawaii in October for a wedding, turks or the Bahamas in Dec, and we'll probably do a trip to CA sometime too.

Nothing planned either! We don't really have the funds, and I'm still debating about our potential big Asia trip to happen this year before she turns 2...

@T.H.O.U.: this site is awesome - it refreshes FP availability every 30 minutes ... I just checked obsessively until I saw there was some and snagged them on the Disney app !

@Charm54: @gingerbebe: Alright, you ladies are scaring me with saying with your 12-13 months were disasters
Any particular reasons you think? Any tips? We're going to Mexico next month when DD will be 13.5 months old. we're taking my mother along as well, so we will have an extra set of hands.

@sapphire: We had my family on hand too. Packed flights, baby wouldn't sleep on the plane, 3 hour time difference, it was unseasonably hot in Maui when we went, he got roseola that was misdiagnosed at the ER as an ear infection, he was still on 2 naps and didn't do stroller naps, you just can't DO much with a kid that age and they can't be out in the sun that long so it was frustrating, especially because my parents had never been to Hawaii before. We didn't have a choice, it was for my BF's wedding, but it was so so hard. Packing for it was hard, dealing with him there was hard, it was expensive, I was up all night with a sick baby burning with fever.
We have to fly to MI next weekend for DH's grandma's funeral with a now 18 month old at 30 weeks pregnant and I'm soooo dreading it.

Thailand and Angkor Wat in June! But a little nervous too - almost 28 hours of flying to get there with an almost 2-year-old!

@sapphire: so for us the whole issue was sleep (or lack thereof). C was (is) a rockstar sleeper so I was not anticipating any issues. But at 12 months she was old enough to know she was in a new place (hotel room) but not old enough to really explain what was happening. She didn't do well sharing our room with us and was up basically the entire night every.single.night. I couldn't let her CIO because I felt bad for our hotel neighbors.
She would then crash and nap during the day in her stroller when we were out and about. Luckily we had my mom and sisters with us so we could get SOME sleep but honestly it was just miserable and so much work. It would have been infinitely easier to stay home.
That being said, if we didn't have the sleep issues we would have had an okay time. She was great during the day and easily portable in the stroller wherever we went.

We have a wedding in Colorado in June... and then that's really it for a while. I think DH and I will sneak away in late October - we have a wedding in the NYC area and then we might jet off for a quick few days alone (maybe a babymoon if the POAS gods are with us!)
nectarine / 2173 posts
@Charm54: thanks for your reply. That really sucks that LO was sick! That would suck at any age.
@Charm54: sleep issues are the worst. We've been on several long weekend trips (including one two weeks ago) with LO and she's done well, so we're hopeful. There will be a time change though so I'm expecting that part to be hard.
