sorry Ive been posting like crazy about birthday parties but I've never thrown a party before.. just want to make sure I get it right.

did you have party favors for the kiddos?
we only have like 3 other little ones attending DDs first birthday and the rest of the guest are adults.

for Livs first bday next week (GAH!) I did little mason jars with homemade brownie mis inside, a cute label. and the recipe on the tag. So it looks layered like flour, then cocoa, then chocolate chips, marshmallows, etc. We dont have any kiddos coming, but for them you could do a thing of mini bubbles and something from teh dollar bins at target.

For LO's first Bday party, I am doing Cake Pops in the shape of Barnyard animals for the kiddies. No adult favors.

nothing for adults. for kids the place we had the party (kidville.... like gymboree) provided the favors. they were really great melissa and doug toys that so many parents asked me where we got them. i also created an extra gift bag that had some cleanwell hand sanitizer, boogie wipes, and snacks.
for charlie's birthday at daycare, i made gift bags with some toys - animal mask, bath cups,, sidewalk chalk, gummis, freeze-dried pear, and a couple more things i don't remember. but the absolute best part of the favor was i gave everyone a mylar balloon. that was the biggest hit ever, and the balloon lasted a week!

@LivsMama: I thinking of doing something similar for M's 1st but in Gerber baby food jars! Only favors for the kiddos.

@lovelife: we had 3 kiddies at our LO's 1st too. a 5, 2 and 1 year old.
I bought the 5 year old a funny plate, 2 year old the string a farm activity, and the 1 year old the wooden car with her name burned into the bottom.
adults got a mini cupcake

I will only do gifts for the kids, a little goody bag full of fun cheap treats and toys. Nothing crazy!

I made sugar cookies for adults (I think edibles are always good) and bought the kids little goodies in the theme for the party. We only have 3 kids too I got them a cute little flower purse (all girls) and put a grow your own flower pot kid (it's a garden party), bubbles, flower shaped sun glasses, etc. in them.

we had a candy bar and various desserts for adults and for the kids i made bowties/hairpins and also made chocolate mustaches.

We gave every family a book (Peter Pan) and a 1 year old picture of the baby. It worked out much cheaper than actual goody bags and it is something they can keep and use. I don't know what we will do for next year.
My friend made Dora coloring books and gave us all crayons for her daughters 3 year old birthday party.

i'm in the middle of planning for my daughter's 2 year birthday party. Just favors for the kids--shopped at Michael's and they have a whole bunch of $1 or $2 toys, coloring books, little toys, that we picked up. Also bought some squirt water guns and neon necklaces from amazon. will also throw in some kids clif bars that i picked up from costco. i also looked at oriental trading, but found most of the things i needed at michael's.

My plan is to raid the target $1.00 section to make favor bags for the kids

We sponge painted flowerpots with lettuce or flowers in them for adults without kids. We made theme tshirt irons for 2-3 yr olds. Gigantic swirl lollipops for older kids with a themed name sticker on it. And theme board books for the babies.
Also We served mini cupcake pops as part of our dessert. Some kids pulled off our helium balloons off the fence and took them home as unintended favors.
Love those hairpins and bowties!

We gave the kiddies Skip Hop lunch bags. They were on sale at Barnes and Noble so I couldn't resist!
