Grapefruit huh? I love grapefruit! I'll try that. Thanks Bee! I wasn't sure if fiber supplements are ok while pregnant?

@MamaMoose: i don't see why they would be bad. metamucil should be fine for you. otherwise there's always prune juice, but that makes my stomach rumble too much!

Definitely fruit for constipation. When I had constipation issues early in pregnancy, by adding 2 fruits per day I fixed that. Pears were my fave. But not sure what to do about the issue you have of going back and forth between constipation and too loose.

Ask the phamasist before taking anything, as they can look it up for you to make sure. Better safe than sorry.

Snack on dried apricots, they help keep your iron levels up as well!

Fruit! Papaya (and chewable papaya enzyme), apricots, grapefruit. And really really "fibery" bread.
I stopped taking prenatals and noticed I started going poo way more often.

Fruit is really good, and so are Fiber One bars! Also, not everyone is ok with caffeine during pregnancy, but a cup every once in a while might help.

I try to eat fruit and fiber, and will take the occasional Colace. FYI...my doc told me Metamucil was okay but no more than twice a week, so I'd ask your doc before taking anything.

Raisin Bran! I eat a bowl (or two) of Raisin Bran every single morning for breakfast, in addition to drinking lots of water, and have stayed fairly regular. I have a pretty dodgy digestive system at the best of times so I thought for sure pregnancy would be torture for me in that regard, but 34 weeks on, I've hardly had any issues, which I can only attribute to the daily consumption of Raisin Bran!
hahaha, I sound like a walking, talking advertisement for them!

LOTS of water. I've realized that if I don't drink at least 65-70oz of water I get...blocked, lol. @Honeybee: that is my go to if nothing else is working--coffee works like a charm.

I take probiotics every morning, and they have really helped! Before pregnancy, apples helped "keep things moving" haha but once I was advised to limit my carb consumption during pregnancy I stopped eating them.

An apple everyday
Also my doctor told me to eat Fiber One cereal - the original is best for keeping your regular (but it's not as tasty as the others but you don't have to eat much)

Probiotics, chia seeds, and lots of water.
Or get some Colace for the constipation.

My prenatal has probiotics so it makes me pretty regular, but if you're constipated water, prunes, and/or papaya will help you go. Guava on the other hand helps slow things down.
