First tri of my 2nd pregnancy I basically went to bed when LO did. I was soooo tired! It got a lot better after the 1st tri.

Congratulations! Are you feeling really sick, or mostly just tired at this point?

For me, I think the first step to making it easier was realizing (and coming to terms with the fact that) my second pregnancy was never going to be the same as my first. I really loved being pregnant the first time, and relished the free time I had to think about it, talk about it, sit and feel/watch my belly moving, etc. The second time around with a toddler to chase...well, you've already figured out how different it is! I was a little sad about the difference at first, but once I accepted that it was going to be different, I felt better (mentally).

Physically....I let myself off the hook on things like food prep. I'm 15 weeks with #3 and my 2 and 4 year olds are basically rotating through variations of the same three options for lunch right now...but you know what? They're happy, they're still getting nutritious food, and it's fine! I also just pick and choose our outings - some days, if I'm not feeling up to it, we go to the park a block away (or our backyard) instead of taking a 15 minute walk to the zoo or parks that involve a lot of chasing them around. And if they're not listening to me, we come home. I'm keeping fewer toys out on rotation, so there's a little less for me to clean up, and I use judgement about whether or not I'm really up for something messy (we aren't doing many art projects right now!) to avoid me getting annoyed about the mess.

That said, I also find that getting out and about (on easy trips, not overly ambitious ones) helped me push through the early days of nausea/exhaustion a little bit...that and, like you, trying to nap when I can and head to bed early/sleep in on weekends when DH is here to take over.

Lots of help from your partner and an ability to let stuff go if it doesn't get done.

@snowjewelz: Seriously, this time it is more like having the flu than being pregnant some days - there's just not time to remember until someone else brings up how I'm feeling! the time does fly, if that's any consolation. I have no idea how I'm in my second trimester!

@snowjewelz: the only reason I have the app this time is because everyone asks how far along I am and I don't know unless I look at the app!!

First tri with a toddler was SO tough, I remember posting about it on here! For me it got sooo much better once I was past the first tri, my energy came back and I just felt less meh. It wasn't til the very end when I got all huge and creaky that it got tough again

With my second, when DS1 napped in the afternoon I napped.

With my third, when DS2 napped in the afternoon, I would give DS2 a movie and nap.

Otherwise, take out and just being a major bitch, lol.

I'm with ya! First tri- I'm tired more so than I was last pregnancy. DD wants me and only me. I don't feel like doing anything once I get home from work. My house is a pit and its driving me crazy YET I STILL don't have the energy to clean it despite how much its haunting me.
I hope I pep up here soon as DH leaves for Deployment in 2 weeks and I HAVE to manage it all. Hugs momma! I feel ya. Its tough

the only thing I have that *sort of helps, is a cleaning app on my phone that I have set up to try to keep on top of things a little.
