@Mrs. Jump Rope: OMG you will not be sorry! They sell it by the sausage and bacon in our grocery store. Vlasics are more dilly IMO and claussens....aren't? I dunno! I love them so much. The spicy ones are a nice change too

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I kind of love how this thread turned into a discussion about pickles.

@photojane: @blackbird: I need @pepper to chime in because for the life of me, I can't picture pickles in the refrigerated section of my grocery store!
My husband is there now so I asked him to look. And I had to explain why HAHAHA.

Just to even further explain the Kohls thing and not using stuff I already have by JC - I haven't even worn the track suits in a super long time, having nothing to do with Kohls. I mentioned earlier in the thread that I wore some of the pants a little PP with my LO when I just needed some comfy stretchy pants. Before that, I don't even remember but definitely before I got pregnant with my daughter. They really did used to be nice (I wore simple ones, just to answer a PP who thought they were gaudy, maybe some are, but I just wore black, navy, etc because it was nice to not have to put real clothes on sometimes but not look like you couldn't be bothered to put real clothes on). But I quit wearing them, I guess mainly because I quit wearing bootcut pants very much*. I went with skinny Lululemon mostly if I needed bummy stuff. So I don't consciously decide to not wear them now, they're just folded up in the top of my closet and haven't been a part of my "working wardrobe" for a long time.
And the perfume - I did get to the bottom of a bottle and decide that it was time to find a new scent because Juicy was only going to be manufactured and sold by Kohls. And again, I have a really negative perception of Kohls. I wore a Vera Wang wedding dress, and I think I actually went to a Kohls and got excited when I saw that VW was making clothes, but when I saw the clothes, I remember thinking, "Oh." It was really clear that it was Kohls for VW or something to that effect. And I actually did buy a bath rug there that was the Kohls brand, I don't remember what it was called, and when I washed it once, it tore. So yes, part of my perception of Kohls is that the things they manufacture are a lower quality. And I know they sell brands, but it's such a hot mess that I was never able to make head or tails of it. The partnership between them and JC did kill it for me, and if that offends anyone, I've already apologized, but again, I apologize. When I got to the bottom of the bottle, and made the decision to seek out another scent, I wasn't sure if Kohls was making the perfume yet, but I had already parted ways with them in my mind, so I started trying new perfumes and eventually settled on a new one. So no, I didn't ever get those last few squirts out of the bottle once I decided we were done. And I'm pretty sure the bottle got thrown out when I got accused of hoarding beauty items/makeup/perfume that I don't ever wear and I majorly cleaned out my bathroom drawers:) So yes, I consciously quit it when I knew that it was either currently or about to be manufactured by Kohls. If I couldn't stand Kohls before, this thread has really made me hate it more, having to explain this in such depth!
As I already said, I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I would never get offended if someone bashed a store or brand I like, and so I didn't realize that anyone would be offended. I would just think, Okay, this person on the internet really hates XYZ that I love. Cool. It wouldn't really even get a lazy eye roll from me. I just had fun with this thread, and I didn't realize Kohls shoppers would be offended. Sorry!
* NO OFFENSE to people who like bootcut pants!

@blackbird: I'm glad I am 30 and have been grocery shopping for myself for 12 years and found out TODAY that pickles are in the refrigerated section.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: so what's the verdict?!
Every time someone here talks about Juicy Couture, I want to take that picture of kim kardashians greasy ass and type JUICY in big ole letters right over it

@kodybear: Eeeek! I love having a Mini Me too! We got matching silver glitter Toms and I love matching her:) I probably am going to do the matching Uggs since I have the zappos gift cards:) Are the buttons on yours and hers different colors? It looks like one has a gray button and one has a tan button. Not a big deal, just wondering:)

@blackbird: You should do it just to lighten up the whole issue. Sheesh.

@PrincessBaby: "So JC will only be sold in Kohls, I think it's starting very soon. They shut down all of the bricks and mortar stores too during 2014. I have LOVED JC for so long, I have like 8 of those (now worthless) jogging suits."
You made it sound like that they are "worthless" since they will be sold only by Kohl's, so it sounded like they weren't good enough aka expensive enough now even if it was the same item. I mean, I get it... when you buy something solely for the "status symbol" that it is, you enjoy wearing/use it cause people who see it KNOW that it cost a lot. And now that it doesn't, it has lost it's appeal. I don't think anything said was offensive. I didn't see it as not "good enough" cause it's sold at Kohls... it's just not the status symbol that it was. Truth be told, if they decided to sell Gucci at my local Target, it'd lose it's appeal to me too and not cause I don't love Target, but let's be honest... no one buys Gucci because they want to exude 'bargain hunter'.

@blackbird: Whenever I hear Juicy mentioned I think of velour track suits and that automatically reminds me of Regina George's mom on Mean Girls.
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
@PurplePumps: Ok sure, and if that can get lumped in with all of my (what feels like) hundreds of responses, then that works for me. Another reason I hung onto those tracksuits is because they used to still re-sell on Ebay for a decent price. I've been meaning to sell most of them for a long time ( I have sold them before for like $125 or something like that) and I looked on Ebay and they're going for like $15. This was a long time ago when I first found out so I don't know what the situation is now, but I remember thinking that they are worthless now, so that was a partial Freudian slip on my part.
ETA: But yes, I do think the novelty of a nicer brand was damaged going to Kohls too. Someone asked me if I'd feel the same way about Target and I'd be surprised about this same partnership with Target, but it wouldn't have been as bad as Kohls. I buy stuff from Target, I bought a Liz Lange maternity sweater there yesterday. I think Target is way cooler than Kohls and my super negative association with Kohls really does have a lot to do with it.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: claussen pickles are the BEST. They're in the refrigerated section by the bacon and the prepackaged lunch meat/hot dogs/etc. They are so crunchy and have such a fresh taste!!
All the stores have them! Go get some!
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@Pepper: GET OUT. He even came home and said he wasn't sure lol
coconut / 8861 posts
I've been getting into Claussen pickles recently. I'm determined to find pickles like the ones you get in restaurants. They're the closest to it. I love that local restaurants near me are making their own too.
nectarine / 2932 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: they moved my claussen pickles and I freaked thinking they stopped selling them!! Some stores have them by the lunchables and cocktail weenies, others have them by the actual deli where they will slice meat for you. My store keeps pre-sliced meat in a different part than the deli.
My husband and I argue all the time over pickles. I win though. Claussen 4 lyf.

@Greentea: yay Patagonia! Big brother has spoiled LO with a few awesome pieces and I'm impressed.
I also love Columbia, and TNF - for kids stuff. I also like how Mexx stuff holds up, Keens, and Joe.

Omg, the pickles conversation in here is hilarious. The hummus, baby bell cheese is sold near where they sell claussens in my store. They are THE BEST EVER.
I can't even.

@Pepper: @Mrs. Jump Rope: Have you had the spicy ones? Not sure of the spice level now, but when they came out, they were insanely spicy. So effing good.

And, in regards to the original question: I don't invest big money into my wardrobe. My style is very simple. Give me a few nice shirts and a couple of pairs of jeans and I'm a happy gal. I'm way more into home goods and tech: Apple, Vitamix, LG, and Nikon. I'm brand loyal with them because I've had amazing experiences. Anything to do with "status" isn't appealing to my in the least. I do wish I had more money so I could shop "kinder" brands.
grapefruit / 4028 posts
@littlejoy: I haven't ever seen the spicy ones! I'll have to check them out next time I go to the store.
Add me on the Claussen Lvr 4Life list. Best. Pickles. Ever.

I'm not very brand particular. I love Target, Nordstrom and Home Goods. I buy much of my work clothing from the Banana Republic outlet and my casual clothes from American Eagle. I agree with many about Nine West. I always but my work heels from their outlet store. I wear almost 100% MAC makeup - it's my splurge. Although I also swear by LancĂ´me moisturizer, Matrix shampoo/conditioner and Big Sexy Hair hair spray.
For my son we buy clothes primarily at Target or Carter's but occasionally from Baby Gap when there's a sale.
For grocery items I agree about Dove body wash and Tillamook cheese. I also swear by Clean & Clear face wash.

@PrincessBaby: I didnt even notice the button color! Haha I had to go check. Both of ours are black (maybe dark gray? The garage lighting is bad). I got them from Amazon if that makes a difference.

I'm not super loyal to a lot of things. Some things I tend to stick with certain brands/ stores for are:
-Apple for computers/ phones/ tablets
-Nordstrom, Gap, Old Navy and H&M for clothes, for LOs and for me
-various brands, usually at Nordstrom for shoes
-Only cheap mascara! I love L'Oreal and have always gone back to it after trying other things
-I love Target for a lot of things, but not usually their clothes. I'll buy things there sometimes, but I find they run small for kids, and are too short for me.
-For workout stuff, I like Lulu, Zella, and Under Armour
-As for pickles, I just like most, so I have no loyalty there. However, when it comes to sauerkraut, it MUST be Steinfeld's
Also, FWIW, I've never actually been in a Kohl's, so I have no idea if I love it or hate it.

A huge component of brand loyalty (whether it's Juicy Couture or Ray Bans or Toms) is perceived value by the consumer. So when a once high-end product starts being sold in discount-type stores and is marketed to a different consumer at a lower price point, the perceived value goes down (or totally goes away) for that once loyal customer.
When Juicy (or Kate Spade or whoever it is that owns JC) decided to start selling in Kohls, they knew that they would be losing most of their loyal customers, but would be gaining new ones (most likely younger girls, shoppers with a lower budget).
If Marc Jacobs started selling his handbags in wal-mart, it would not be "the exact same thing" just sold in a different store, because MJ would no longer be a luxury brand. It's perceived value to the consumer (at least to die hard MJ fans) would be nil. Millions of people buy high-end things because luxuries make them feel SPECIAL. Bottom line.
You dont prefer to buy high end items? Great. You prefer to spend your money on experiences? That's so awesome! You can only afford to shop at Target or discount stores? That's valid and completely okay. Cute stuff doesnt have to be expensive. But just because you arent the consumer who gets her rocks off buying name-brand items doesnt mean that the people who do are ass holes.

I actually have great luck at the Kohls in my town, but it's probably because I am an old lady. I have great luck with the Dana Buchman brand there. I also get my bras there, when they have a sale, I can't find better prices anywhere else.
I am not brand loyal to anything, other than Nuetrogena Rainbath body wash and the Sesame Body Oil.
This is a good read, actually:

@lovehoneybee: hahaha I love you.
@IRunForFun: if my sister didn't wear the perfume, I would have no idea Juicy sold anything other than those outfits. I have been picturing everyone in this thread wearing them the whole time. Yall are all sitting at home wearing your velour track suits eating pickles, aren't you?!?

@lovehoneybee: same. I thought Juicy was like the chick version of Ed Hardy lol

@plantains: that's so funny. I get the junkyard feel from H&M! It is so claustrophobic in there and I have never been inside an H&M that is tidy. There is always stuff everywhere!

@MrsTiz: don't be silly, it's monday, no one is allowed to wear track suits on monday, it's against the rules. they wouldn't be allowed to sit at the lunch table.
