Love: north face, uggs, gap, rainbows, Steve madden, target, pottery barn
Don't love: crate and barrel (everything chips!!), le creuset (our Dutch oven chipped and then rusted on the bottom!), toms for kids(they fall off Los feet)
@PrincessBaby: I commented on this thread just to say I bought my daughter and myself those gray Bailey uggs and love them. I love making her my little mini me and so of course I had to buy her uggs. haha

@sorrycharlie: I hate Khol's for the same reason! I never feel like I'm getting a deal? Even their online coupon codes are bogus compared to other stores/sites! I'll gladly go to TJ Maxx or Marshall's over Khol's.
I actually shop in the juniors section at Nordstrom sometimes and will find a better fitting piece of clothing for a better price and better customer service than Kohl's.

@PrincessBaby: I get what you're saying about JC...and I'm shocked that they sold! When I told DH even he laughed. He remembers buying Juicy everything for my birthday's when we dated. Also, I use to love Rock and Republic jeans in 2005 and a few years later they sold to Khol's too. The quality went downhill and they were no long jeans that made my butt look good. Just frumpy lol.
I don't see the problem with buying a piece of high quality clothing. I buy one pair of expensive jeans every year. They last, they look decent and I'd much rather wear them than 5 pairs of ill fitting jeans. I don't think buying a few pieces of expensive clothing makes anyone snobby...

@loveisstrange: No, I'm the same. I've been racking my brains and i honestly can't think of a single brand anything I buy!! Post baby, I get everything from the local supermarket (usually Tesco):- clothes, shoes, make up! The perfume I wear is whatever I've been gifted the previous Christmas! But even pre baby, I bought from high street stores Like New Look. I've had one pair of Levis ever (and no other brand name jeans).
But to answer the question, I was very disappointed by Clark's shoe service. Clark's are THE (high street) brand for "first shoes". If you don't buy Clark's you are a "bad parent" because of their top notch measuring service. Well we took E and they measured her feet but it was still a case of trial and error and she ended up with shoes one size bigger and one width size bigger anyway. So the measuring service isn't that good, is it?
pineapple / 12566 posts
@Cherrybee: haha, all my UK friends here are talking about buying Clark's for their early walkers for that specific reason. Funny that you ended up with an off size!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@Cherrybee: is Clarks the same as the U.S. brand, Clarks, for shoes? I was very disappointed with their customer service when I tried to purchase a pair of supposed comfort shoes for my new job. Ended up at Naturalizer and was taken care of immediately. Then, of course, found the same shoe for cheaper af Macy's, lol.
Unless Clarks is like Stride Rite! Then I'm way off

@PrincessBaby: I get what you're saying about Kohls.
From a storefront standpoint, I cannt stand shopping there. Our closest store is always a mess. The displays are messy, clothes are not organized neatly, and I can never find what I am looking for. My husband likes buying jeans and t-shirts there, and I'll get Carter's for the kids there, but the woman's department is a hot mess. I got a few maternity pants from them but otherwise, I dislike going there. I always leave feeling confused.
From a price standpoint, their pricing strategy just makes my blood boil. Unless you are doing comparison shopping and understanding pricing ahead of time, you really can't be sure that you're getting a good deal and saving as much as they tell you.
I suspect that Kohls won't have the same manufacturing capabilities that JC once had, so I would argue that the quality of clothing won't be the same. They started carrying Vera Wang years ago, and I guarantee you the Vera Wang you buy inside Nordstrom isn't the same quality that you buy inside Kohls.

I like clarks- my husband goes through socks like crazy and Clarks has a guarantee on theirs. Everytime he gets a hole I just stop by the store and they let me pick a new pair off the shelf.
I also like Nordstrom's for their service and I really like the CC+ cream from IT cosmetics. I wear it as full coverage foundation but I can't even feel it on my face.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: that's part of my reason for not tilling them too. I'm not organizing enough to use Kohls cash and without it, nothing is very cheap.
Does every store have digital price signs? That's makes me feel like the prices are just arbitrary. I've bought Carter's there too, but it's the same price as everywhere else, so I usually get it at Carter's itself on sale or Costco.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@Mrs Green Grass: our kohls has the electronic signs.
I don't have a Carter's store near us, so I get Carter's from Penny's or Kohls.

@PrincessBaby:
I don't understand anyone taking offense either. I should've said in my previous reply that I really don't care for Kohl's either, but I didn't like Mervyn's in the first place. Kohl's replaced our Mervyn's. I get lost in the store, it's unorganized, and I never get a deal, except once I bought a M&D push toy online for a steal. I also refuse to step foot in a Walmart, I HATE them. No matter how much cheaper something is there I will happily pay more somewhere else!

I like trying new brands so I don't have much loyalty. I prefer Nike shoes for working out and buy all my camis from Forever 21. I can't beat $1.50 a piece for thick undershirts that last a couple years.
pomegranate / 3845 posts
I think people are offended because something you already own is suddenly not good enough because it's now part of Kohl's.
It'd be like I drive a BMW, it's a great vehicle for my family, very safe, excellent fuel economy, spacious, and aesthetically pleasing. But then BMW gets acquired by Toyota and suddenly, the vehicle that was perfect for my family and wonderful in so many ways, is now a piece of shit and I can't ditch it fast enough, lest someone think I actually intentionally purchased something from *gasp* Toyota. That's totally different than I just don't like how Toyota sells their cars, their dealerships are too crowded, the salespeople are unfriendly, and I just won't give Toyota my business. The first is offensive to anyone who owns a Toyota. The second is a shopping preference.

Most of my brand loyalty is for LO's stuff since I buy her way more stuff than I buy myself now. I do love the LC by Lauren Conrad stuff for myself (which is sold exclusively at Kohl's lol). And I love Target and Loft for clothes for myself.
For LO I love Baby Gap, Uppababy, Babyganics, See Kai Run.
I hate Circo. I buy it because it's cheap and perfect for daycare clothes, but it runs so small and doesn't last. I'll have to trash it when she grows out of it (whereas I can always resell her BG stuff and recoup some of the money). We were gifted some Circo washcloths and they're basically just super thick paper towels...useless!

Another team target, kohls hater here. I've only been there once and have no desire to go back! That said, I would still wear a brand that is bought by them, if I already have it and I think it's cute, comfortable etc, at least around the house.
pomelo / 5509 posts
@Applesandbananas: I think your metaphor hit the nail on the head. If it was just a simple issue of not wanting to shop at Kohl's because it's disorganized and you don't think the deals are any good, fine. But it's the tone that conveys that Kohl's is "beneath" you, so much so that you won't even wear something you already own and love because it may give off the impression that you *God forbid* shopped at Kohl's.
"And this is SUPER snobby, but I've worn Viva La Juicy perfume for years and totally loved it, and I haven't worn it in a long time because it's about to be "cheap" perfume and so I've been on the hunt for a new signature perfume. I KNOW it's awful, but I can't wear Kohls perfume."
It's that tone - like, even if it WAS the same exact perfume and you could buy it online and not have to go wait in line at a disorganized store, you wouldn't wear it because you just OMG CAN'T wear perfume from a cheap store. Even if it's the exact same perfume you've been wearing for years...
pomelo / 5509 posts
To answer the question, I've racked my brain and really don't have much brand loyalty, I guess! And the loyalties I do have are about comfort and not labels.
I only wear Asics running shoes, because they fit my feet the best. I mainly wear Hanes cotton bikini underwear because they're comfortable and don't show a panty line. I like Express Rerock jeans because they come in "short", hold up well, and there's usually some sort of BOGO deal on them.
I used to shop nearly exclusively at LOFT because they have a pretty extensive petite collection, but lately their quality seems to have gone down, so I don't as much. But, I will still happily wear my closet full of LOFT stuff I've acquired over the years!!

@Applesandbananas: I think you make a good comparison, but I will say I owned two volvos before ford bought Volvo, I bought the third and noticed the finishes weren't as nice, but bought it anyway. That Volvo was a giant headache! It was the Volvo that made me not buy another volvo after. I loved volvos, but not ford made volvos. Sometimes things change under new ownership.
pomegranate / 3845 posts
@mrs. bird: agree wholeheartedly, however, it had zero impact on the Volvos you had prior, like OP's perfume she currently has.

Ummmmm.... Dawn dish soap and Best Foods Mayo. Generics just do not compare. I have zero clothing loyalty.
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
Heinz ketchup. That's how classy I am. My only brand loyalty is to ketchup.
pomelo / 5000 posts
My loyalty comes more with food & house goods, which makes sense since that's where most of our $$ goes each month! Our dog has a sensitive stomach, so we were grateful to finally find a good dog food for her and will stick to it (Taste of the Wild). I like Dove's fragrance free bar soap and Tide's Clear and Free detergent. There's a fresh salsa I like, but I can't think of the name brand, just the packaging! And good coffee--I'll try out new brands, but I go for good quality beans.
I'm often disappointed in beauty products with cult status. For example, I didn't like that Smashbox primer that everyone raves about, nor do I like Maybelline's mascara in the pink tube.
persimmon / 1339 posts
Only the Aussies will know this but for my son I basically only buy him Bonds clothing. It is cheap, super cute, and SO durable!!! He sizes out of things and I swear they still look brand new no matter how much they've been puked on/puked on/washed. I've been able to resell a lot of his old Bonds stuff online for about 80% of retail.
Other than that, I only wear Nine West shoes for work, they are the only high heels I can stand for longer than 2 hours (i'm a teacher so I'm on my feet basically all day). I always stock up on Roots sweats for me, my husband and my son when I'm back in Canada. I used to be super loyal to Lululemon but not anymore, the decline in quality over the last 5 years (and increase in $$$!!) is frankly shocking! I've been using the same facewash/scrub by Nivea for about 10 years and will not stop ever.
I bought a pair of Ferregamo heels for my wedding and have worn them precisely once, even though they are totally understated and could easily be work shoes, they are SO uncomfortale. Worst money I ever spent.

@Applesandbananas: yep this, THANK YOU! Exactly my point, I just couldn't go there again.

QTips. Generic cotton swabs are not as soft and fluffy!
Otherwise I don't have many brand loyalties. We are not wealthy by any means, so many of these brands we have never even tried to begin with because we try to save our money for experiences as a family & hopefully a better future for our daughter and any other LOs.
I usually try to just skip over these brand flaunting threads because I realize that when I get annoyed by them, it's often a "me problem." If you have the money to buy fancy things, great for you, and it's all relative of course. But some of the comments in this thread make my eyes roll so hard.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@Applesandbananas: exactly. What you already own isn't affected (or is it effected?) by the new ownership; it's the items moving forward!
We are a Vlassic pickles family. This thread is making me want to try clausssen-- and for those who coupon, there's a coupon for clausssen Pickles in my red plum!

I like shopping at Kohl's for Jumping Bean toddler basics, Carter's and some of the Lauren Conrad pieces.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: claussen pickles already in the fridge are even better!

daniellemybelle: @ladybee:
The brands I am loyal to are related to running. I love Feetures socks, Brooks shoes, moving comfort sports bras, and Champion C9 running Gear.
If I own anything that is considered luxury, it's because I bought it secondhand. I'm not knocking people who like to spend their hard earned money on those things, I just choose not to.
Also, I'm not a fan of Kohls, just because the stores near me are so disorganized and messy.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@Smurfette: I just realized my phone autocorrected to "clausssen" Hahaha I wonder why it keeps spelling it like that?!
I always refrigerate my pickles right away! I could eat a whole jar at once. My kid doesn't like pickles. Whatever, more for me!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: I mean buy them at the store from the fridge section. They are even better then that room temp ones.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@Smurfette: I could be overlooking them but I don't think our grocery store does. We are going food shopping tonight so I'll have DH look!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: usually in the deli section or with the other cold cuts.

@avivoca: same here with secondhand! So HBers, keep buying your kiddos fancy duds & selling them to me on the Classifieds! I just hate when my October 13 mamas get there first!
I think a lot of brand names have adorable styles but my kid looks pretty cute in Target stuff too

I have an obsessive brand loyalty to black Papermate pens. I cringe if I have to write with any other brand or color. It's not normal, I know.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@Ra: lol! I am blue loyal. I don't know the brand, but there's one brand I LOVE..writes sooooo smooth. I need more.

Huh. I didn't realize that Juicy was a thing that adult women bought. The only people I've ever known who wore it were teenaged girls I went to high school (the same group that went tanning together every week with the little stickers on so they could track how dark they were getting/have a faux tattoo). And even they've long since packed it away...TIL!
I personally think it's silly to stop wearing something just because a store you don't like starts selling it, but it's your money to waste, so if you feel that strongly about it it doesn't impact me at all.
I do agree about Kohl's being a disorganized mess, and their website search interface is just as bad. But I have clothes from there that I love, got for a steal, and always get compliments on...it can be frustrating, though. I prefer TJ Maxx or Target.
As for me, I only buy Ban deodorant and Troegs beer (I'll try others when we're out but Troegs is what we keep in the fridge), and I love Merrells shoes.
grapefruit / 4671 posts
@daniellemybelle: yeah, I can't bring myself to buy designer clothing for a kid who will wear them for 6 months. Some of my friends do though and I welcome the hand me downs!
As for other designer brands, I have bought two pairs of ferragamo so with zappos gift cards I got from swagbucks.
