DS is battling some pretty bad diaper rash for the first time. Apparently he had diarrhea in his sleep a few nights ago and has kept having it and I can't get rid of it! Poor guy. We are using some desitin we got as a gift but it isn't helping. Is there an actual difference between brands? The ingredients seem the same bit everyone has a brand they swear by. Just wondering before I run to target to pick something else up! Thx!

If the rash won't go away you might want to see the doctor. We ended up having to get a prescription cream for my LO.

When LO's diaper rash gets really bad, I rely on Boudreaux's Butt Paste, max strength (red one). It smells good and does the trick for it. The purple Desitin smells like ass, so I avoid it when possible. Regular Desitin is our everyday butt cream.

I ended up having to get a prescription for DS, but his is a seemingly never-ending yeast infection.
The nurse also told us to use wet wash clothes instead of regular diaper wipes, to let him go diaper-free as much as possible, and to put a bit of baking soda into his bath water.
As for as your actual question...I have no idea. I usually use Angel Baby Bottom Balm (or something like that) because we use cloth diapers and never really had rash problems until now. In the past month I've tried Destin, Palmers, A&D and Boudreauxs. Boudreauxs has worked the best but I still needed a prescription. I picked up some Triple Paste today, so we'll see how that works. Our pedi said any of them should be fine, we're just dealing with a particularly difficult case.

My experience has been that most of the diaper creams out there are good for acting as a moisture barrier and really nothing more. They might address some minor redness or irritation, but when you have a full on diaper rash, OTC stuff might not cut it.

I have tried several creams and the one that works best for healing a rash (for us!) is CJ's BUTTer. We do a lot of diaper free time, too, especially when she starts to get red. I put a waterproof bed liner on the floor, layer a towel over it and let LO play naked on the floor for as long as I can!

I swear by Sudocrem (which I think is similar to Triple Paste in the States). That and some homemade stuff that is AH-MAZING.

I also like Bordreaux's Butt Paste and Lotrimin works wonders on yeast rashes, way better than any prescription we've been given.
