@Ash: oooh another nursing student! yay are you working as a nurse now? My community college recently implemented a BSN program that can be taken on campus through another state uni. So thankfully I don't have to get the AA first then transfer

Elementary Ed. I sorta use it. I'm teaching pre-k, which is technically Early Childhood Ed, but since I did my student teaching in kindergarten, I think it's close enough. In the next year or so, I'll be getting my birth-K add on license.

I have a BS in Biology and I'm currently using it. I think I picked the right major. I'm glad the high school career questionnaire I took was right!

@Mrs. Pen: That's awesome. I hope our CC does that before I get my bsn - I don't wanna drive too far to get it but there are online options around here I might consider. & yep, I work as a floor nurse - peds & ob - best job ever!

I have a BS in public relations and journalism and have been using my degree ever since I graduated all those years ago. (Even though I'm currently jobless.)
I also have an MFA in creative writing. Technically I don't use it, but it does help in my profession to know how to be a good storyteller.

I have a BA in communications and rhetorical studies with an emphasis in advertising. I Minored in psych & art history, and am a few credits short of getting my certificate on multimedia.
I run my own graphic design studio, so I sort of use my degree

I have a BA in History and a MA in Library Science. I currently work part-time at a public library (and as a nanny 3/4 time), so I do use my master's degree

BA in English with a minor in history I loved it, and I definitely use it as a journalist. My parents were both English majors, too, and they are lawyers.

@Ash: oh really? an online nursing program? major downside to program here is it's days, during the week... which will clash with my job Since it involves so many clinicals they don't offer anything alternative.
persimmon / 1304 posts
I went to school for political science and journalism. I work in corporate communications...so a little bit related to journalism, but definitely not poli sci.

I have a degree in medical assisting. It was a trade school so I went specifically for that. I do not use it though, unfortunately.

I have a BA in sociology and criminology. I don't really USE it I suppose, although it's hard to regret a degree that shaped your viewpoint on the world. I guess I'm glad I have that knowledge, even if I don't use it for my job.
I also have a law degree. I do use it, as I'm an attorney. But I don't like my job and I'm trying to transition to photography. Again, it's hard to regret the degree because I met some of my best friends in law school and it helped shape me as a person-- but hopefully I won't be using it professionally for very long.

BS in environmental science, and a masters in public policy (focus on environmental policy/natural resource management)
honeydew / 7909 posts
@Mrs. Pen: Well, it's online if you do rn-bsn track. Otherwise, where I went to school, it was 3-5 days a week on campus including clinicals. I had to work afternoons and weekends to make it through school but it was only 2 years and completely manageable. Good luck!! Let me know if you need anything!

BS in Management and I don't use it. I'm planning on going to nursing school in the future... I wish I had gone right out of high school!

I have a BA in Sociology, which is a fairly useless degree in and of itself, but I went straight on to get my Master's in Social Work. I used my social work degree for many years.
I also am 3/4s of the way done with my master's degree in elementary education, obtained through an alternative certification program. I was taking the classes whilst teaching for my two years with the program so I guess I sort of used the education?! The program was designed so we could complete the program independently if we so chose, but I moved to Australia to be with DH and didn't bother.

Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Marketing. We moved to a super small town 3 days after we finished university, so after a year of living here I'm in my current role. I use it I think. I'm in sales, but advertising sales. So I help my clients come up with marketing plans. No one else I work with has a university degree, so it wasn't required.

I have a BA (majored in psychology) and then decided to switch to nursing. Unfortunate that I had to go back to school but because I already had a BA I was able to do a BSN in 18 months.
@Mrs. Pen: Glad to hear that you have a more convenient BSN option now! Yay nursing

English with a technical writing specialty, and counseling. I work in public health where I use my counseling degree, and I hate it. I would like to change gears and focus on something with my English/writing degree.

Bachelors and Masters degrees are both in social work. I work in social work, but I'd definitely have to agree with @babynumber1: social work is much more on-the-job and intuitive work than actual school work. Too bad that actually GETTING a job in social work still requires the advanced degree. /c:

I have a BA in Communications with an emphasis in Advertising and Public Relations. My minor is in Sociology. I do use it, I am a marketing and public relations coordinator at a non-profit. If I ever go back I'd like to go for a degree in atmospheric science.
