Clearing my three queues. I love getting my hard copy queue close to single digits.

Sitting down with my class at the end of the day (literally on the floor with them) and talking about what we learned, singing silly songs, counting, reading, etc.

No matter how tired I am, how trying of a day it's been, or how many times I've repeated myself, I'm reminded of why I do what I do.

Closing out files. It's so satisfying.

This thread makes me sad because I have thought and thought and there is nothing in my current job I actually enjoy doing.

In my previous job, I did love a frantic eviction day. I know that sounds awful and maybe it is but these are people we have worked with over months, often years, trying to get them to pay their rent and/or change their behaviour. These are often people who have terrorised neighborhoods and we have been to court over and over with them but they keep getting second, third, fourth chances. Inevitably, you get a call from the court an hour before the eviction saying that they have applied for a last minute hearing (asking for the eviction not to go ahead) and you rush to the court to put your case across. Nine times out of ten, they would be given yet another chance but on the rare occasion the eviction went ahead, I would have to race back to the property to meet the bailiff, the carpenter (to drill the locks), the glaziers to board up the windows, often the police would be there, the dog wardens (because there were always angry dogs in the properties)...... it was just exciting. Once, a resident started pouring petrol round the property, saying he was going to set fire to it (he didn't). Another time, someone booby trapped the front door and a sheet of glass crashed down when we broke open the door (it missed us). I loved all the excitement, I think.
