@Looch I think it is easier to buy, never made one before. We always get them from this vendor online. The great thing about it is that the bones are taken out so the cooking time is reduce greatly, warm up in 2 hours or less, depending on oven.

Everything??
If I HAD to choose, it would be stuffing. Mashed potatoes second, green bean casserole third. Ham and turkey next. I used to LOVE love love canned cranberry sauce more than anything, but it's sliding down the list. It's still my #1 need for making a leftover sandwich the next day though

Homemade stuffing, hands down. It's basically just bread, sage, butter and onions, but OMG it's pure deliciousness. I also used to LOVE the canned cranberry sauce, but then I tried making homemade last year and it was so, so good.

@blackbird: Awww I feel bad knocking anybody who ever takes the time to feed me a meal, but in our family big dinners are a BIG deal. All the women in our family /prepcook/bake for days to make everything for dinner for the 30+ people. I went to my husband's family for dinner for the first time and he raved for weeks about how great his family's dinners are, and it ended up being turkey that was made ahead, and frozen, and warmed up in the microwave and stove top!

@lawbee11: ditto to both of those!!
So happy that this baby will be out before Thanksgiving because I've been on the GD diet and I would cry without my yams and marshmallows!! Also, I looooove pecan pie!! Can't wait!

My family always teases me because I'm somewhat of a foodie (although I *hate* that term) -- I LOVE crescent rolls! It's such a vice. I grew up in somewhat of a hippie area of Northern California so I always had tofu, whole wheat bread sandwiches, 100% juice boxes, etc so when we had a Pillsbury crescent roll at Thanksgiving it was such a treat! And of course I love mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce and stuffing and pumpkin pie

I can't pick. It is impossible! I love stuffing and turkey and love mashed potatoes but also love the homemade fudge and caramel my mom makes. Oh and leftover sandwiches. Oh I am so hungry!

My (pastry chef) sister makes the best pumpkin pie cheesecake. We only get it once a year but she makes extra so we get some to bring home too.

@HLK208: please tell me about this cranberry, cilantro, jalapeno sauce! Those flavors sound amazing!

Stuffing. Actually all the sides. I would be perfectly content to just eat a plate {or two} full of sides.

@anonysquire: Oooh, yes, the things you can make out of leftover turkey! Turkey sandwiches, turkey and gravy to pour over bisquick biscuits...so much goodness! *drool*

@blackbird: This is half of my family. One year my Aunt brought instand mashed potatoes. I almost cried!

Ooh this is tough, it's a tie between my aunt's Mac & cheese, my mom's mashed potatoes, my green bean casserole, and my grandma's dinner rolls.. Yum! And the leftover turkey on the leftover dinner rolls for little sandwiches... *drool* I'm really looking forward to it!

@sapphiresun, ew!
@smurfette, NO. Real mashed potatoes are not that hard! AHH. I actually hate my MIL's mashed potatoes. They're whipped to oblivion with hardly any butter or milk or seasonings.
Don't get me wrong, I'll still eat it. But it's not like I'm all OOOH YUM THANKSGIVING FOOD. Because it's all just okay. Everyone brings a dish and nobody is really an awesome cook in DH's family.

@blackbird: I know! I mean you can never have too much butter in mashed potatoes. My family isn't that great of cooks either. I used to get so excited for my grandma's stuffing but the last couple years her cooking has really gone down hill. Makes me sad.

@smurfette, aw that sucks DH's grandma makes some good pasta con broccoli but that's not "thanksgiving food" so I don't count it.
