I just talked to my boss about this yesterday! I'd like to work 30-35 hours a week, only Monday-Friday. I don't mind the 11-7 shift because I avoid traffic, LO and I hang out in the mornings, and it's easy to get errands done in the morning. I get home between 7:30-8:00 which means I eat dinner, we do bathtime for LO, put her to bed, and then DH and I usually have 30-60 minutes to hang out before bed.

I'd much rather work M-Th 7-6 with a lunch break, and have Friday off! I will be working M-F 7-3, no lunch, when I get back from maternity leave, and for now, that's a pretty ideal situation for us. DH is going to drop LO off at daycare at 8, and I'll have her back with me by 330!

@Mrs. Pen: It works for us because DH goes to work early, usually out the door by 6:00/6:30 and is off by 3:00. I drop LO off at daycare around 11:00 and she gets picked up by 4:30, making her daycare day short and giving both of us solo bonding time. DH has dinner with me when I get home..

I like flexibility to be able to do longer days part of the week and shorter days on others. Right now, I do about 40 hours with a 7-4 MWF and 9-4 TT.

@Mrs. Pen: We pay by the day, so it's the same whether it's 7-6 or 11-4:30, but it's pretty inexpensive, so we don't mind, plus if we have a long day in the future, we won't have to pay more.

@Mrs. Pen: for sure. I spend a lot on gas. Luckily I have a little commuter car, that I get about 40 miles on the gallon for since most of my commute is highway. But my work isn't down for me working less days. They prefer me to come in M-F. It stinks.

i loved monday-thursday 630-430! that would my ideal if i had to pick a 40hr wk, otherwise i'd pick T/T 7-330 =)

Right now things work well with our schedules. DH works 8-5 M-F @ the office (OT from home) & I work 8-4 M-F. I drop him off at 745 I'm to work by 8 & in the afternoon it gives me an hour to do whatever before picking him up. For our current situation this schedule is ideal. with no kids right now I'd rather work Monday through Thursday with 10 hour days. then I could use Fridays for all appointments and errands that need to be run during the week. I'd miss a lot less work that way but because I do DH's transportation that's not an option.

In my dream world, 6:30am-12pm, that is when my brain is at it's peak. After 12pm you can't get any work out of me. I don't mind my 8am-4pm schedule now, but once we have kids I'd like to move more towards part time since we don't need my benefits, but we do need my check

Ideally: Tue-Thur 8-4 with benefits.

T-Thurs 9-3, some PT work from home. but in reality, i want to quit my day job and do photography FT!
