we normally get 1% or 2%, but for special occasions (like thanksgiving, when i know people will want to put it in their coffee, or even just drink a glass) i get whole

I prefer whole milk too, but am drinking skim now for health reasons.

Whole milk for me too! DH cringes everytime I drink any, he's a 2% fan so he says I'm drinking creamer.

2% over here My favorite milk though is milk in KOReA! (More like whole milk, but soooo yummy)

I usually drink skim, but occasionally cave to my 2% craving. And I only use 1 or 2% for chocolate milk.

usually 1 or 2%, but dh is lactose-intolerant, and the lactaid stuff tastes creamier than normal milk! I used to drink skim and now can't stand it, even though I usually only have it in coffee

used to drink skim, but Livs pedi told me to drink NO cows milk while I am BFing her, so now I drink soy. I cant bring myself to drink goat milk, which he did say is ok. All milk kinda grosses me out

Soy milk for DH and I. DH is allergic to Dairy and I prefer the taste in cereal.

I prefer whole, but my husband likes his "watered down" so we compromise with 2%. I'm excited to get whole again with kids after a year of age.
I hate goats milk with a passion- I grew up on a goat farm and my parents would always try to get me to drink it, which I refused. But I do love, love goat cheese!

My mom always bought skim, so luckily that's what I'm used to!

I grew up on whole milk and I hated it. Whole milk is too fatty for us so we get 2%. I don't mind drinking it when I need to. I also do like Silk milk.

For the longest time, I drank skim milk. Recently, I switched it up to whole and 2% for fertility purposes. Occasionally, I drink goat milk because I like the pasture-like taste to it.

I grew up with skim milk, but now that I've had fattier milk, I can't go back! I usually get 2% but sometimes we'll have whole if I am going to cook with it too.

@LivsMama: why no cow's milk while BFing? is that advice they generally give or does your baby have sensitivity to dairy?
i couldn't really answer this poll... we have so many kinds of milk in our fridge at all times it's ridiculous... coconut, soy, almond (and those come in vanilla and unsweetened flavors too), goat, lowfat, skim, whole, chocolate... i change it up alot. i love milk!!!

@NYCaliMama: Nope, she doesnt have a sensitivity at all. Our pedi group are all doctors from Europe (somewhere in the Slavic area) and are VERY into BFing education. Over there they get a lot of education during Med school on BFing-way more than over here. Anyways, they advise all of their BFing mothers to not drink cows milk or eat cheddar cheese, brie, or fresh mozzarella because of Casein and its potential links to several things..

@LivsMama: thanks... how interesting. i'll definitely read up on that and stick to non-cow's milk for now.

I drink fat free milk. I have problem with animal fats, I can tolerate them to an extent but too much and their are big gas problems. Fat free I can drink all day without a problem though.

Skim milk for us. I hate how heavy 1%, 2% and whole are. Wayyy to thick for me! Yuck!

@NYCaliMama: if they give me any more info ill post it on your wall here. Im going to ask them what they suggest she starts drinking at 12 months old, but from what I think I remember them saying, they suggest goats milk then as well.

@LivsMama: thanks! i have heard that cow's milk isn't the greatest to switch to. if i'm still nursing at that time, i wouldn't mind just because i wouldn't have to worry about what milk to give. i heard goat's is a better alternative also.

2% is my favorite and I kinda like whole but I hate skim milk and will only drink lowfat if there is absolutely nothing else.

None! I was allergic to milk when I was little and cannot stand it now. I do love milkshakes though!

When I drink cow's milk I go for 2%. Usually though we just buy soy milk since DH is somewhat lactose intolerant. Since getting pregnant I made us switch from soy to almond milk b/c of the estrogen-like properties of soy.

@NYCaliMama: Exactly. Ill keep nursing or pumping for her if I can for that long. The thought of it weirds me out .We're the only species that vountarily seeks out and consumes another species milk. It never bothered me until I started BFing and now its like "ew." haha. I will give her whatever she needs to stay healthy though

i used to hate skim milk bc it felt so watery, but these days many great organic brands have been impressing me!

when I'm not pregnant we drink raw milk {not homogonized or pasturized}, but since I'm pregnant & not allowed to have raw milk, I only drink organic milk. If they have whole that is what I buy, but if they don't have whole, I'll choose a lower fat organic over non-organic whole
