How big of prizes?
Small prizes: pacifier or paci clip. Or wet bag. Or hair bow.
Medium prizes: Hat with ears! Another hat with ears! Hats shaped like fruit/veggies.
Big prizes: Car seat! Baby carrier. How awesome would that be? Congrats you won a big ticket item that you wanted but didn't know if you could afford!
ETA: I think I would be most excited by hand made/made by artist stuff. Like a HAT WITH EARS!
Or a home made mobile with little toy animals wearing HATS WITH EARS (j/k, animals should not wear hats with ears).

@artbee: Haha that's like me asking you what restaurant you want to go to, and then you saying, "I don't mind anything at all!"
Haha but I bet if I said, "Ok let's get some sushi," then you would not want to get sushi!

@mrbee: Car seat.... um, I don't know. The kind that go front facing and rear facing--like the 2nd of the 3 you have to buy (not the infant one since a lot of people buy a travel system when pregnant). If I knew more about them I would probably already have bought one.
Carrier: beco or ergo or a hand made ring sling?
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
@mrbee: Not true. I'm not very picky when it comes to restaurants and I can pretty much find something I like anywhere. I'm one of those people who are a little too easy going I guess

I think gear is tough because there are so many different preferences. But some stuff, like A+A swaddlers, I think would be loved by all! Or amazon gift cards.

Cool stuff for parents to do on date nights....movie tickets, restaurant gift cards!
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
@mrbee: Seriously though, who's going to complain about winning anything that's free?! I'm not a lucky kind of person anyway so it doesn't matter for me, I never win these things. If only DH would sign up..... he wins everything.

Hair bows, taggie blankets, cute crocheted hats, tutus. Newborn photo props for mommies due around that time.
I agree that I'd be excited about handmade stuff.

Maybe an interior designer package where they design your nursery? Gift certificates to places like Land of Nod/Pottery Barn Kids/Etc.? Nursery decor like wall decorations and design elements? Can you tell what is on my brain right now?
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
I second things like car seats or baby carriers.
Convertible carseats would be great - maybe one of the more popular ones like Britax, Diono etc.
High chairs - modern style ones like the Stokke Tripp Trapp
I like the gift cards idea; diapers.com, amazon, to different etsy sellers etc
Housekeeping service
Wittlebee membership
Goody bag filled with mom/baby items such as baby wash, lotion, and other popular baby products. Kind of like the product bundles from Earth Mama Angel Baby.
Are you guys thinking of doing something like that more on a regular basis?
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@artbee: haha exactly.
But if you want specific items I would say items that are not absolute necessities but awesome to have. Such as nursing cover, shopping cart cover, stroller accessories, items fit baby such as splash mat, reusable place mat, wet/snack bags, etc.
And yes those are all things I need! Haha
Btw was there ever a winner for the nursing cover?

I second (or third, or fourth) gift cards! Since I don't have any children yet, and I am planning on wait to TTC for a little while, gift cards would be perfect!
pomelo / 5178 posts
What about some of the most expensive, but popular baby items? I'm thinking, A&A swaddle blankets, Sophie the Giraffe toys, Snugabunny swing, Trumpette socks, etc... Stuff that a lot of parents love and rave about, but some of us are too cheap to buy on our own.
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
@tororojo: A+A blankets. Yes! I don't even have any but I agree.
And I second a photo shoot.
pineapple / 12526 posts
@Honeybee: OMG, I would love to win some Trumpette Lucy socks!
pear / 1965 posts
Well sometimes people can be selective on baby things, so maybe the prize could be a "Your choice of either A or B and have two things around the same price to choose from.
I mean it would be aweosme to win say a carrier or carseat...but what if the winner already has one? Just an idea.

A custom art print (perhaps partnering with an etsy artist?)
Car seats, carriers and other highly recommended gear (I've based many of my purchases on reviews I've seen on HB)
Gift cards to Amazon, Diapers.com, etc
admin / watermelon / 14210 posts
gift cards are tough to get, so let's take that off the table for now since who wouldn't want to win a gift card?
pear / 1965 posts
@Honeybee: True, but even when people have something already doesnt stop them from taking something that is FREE. I mean it can be gifted or sold..or whatever.
Just something to consider. Granted yes I wouldnt and I am sure many on here would probably pass if they already had whatever the "prize" was...just like I said...something to think about.
pineapple / 12526 posts
Why not partner with some HB members and do a giveaway? I know there are quite a few who do crafty things. Put out a call and see if anyone is willing to donate making something and then do a giveaway with those items.

We've only had two contests so far, though we could have had many more. I wanted to limit contests to products that I would really want for myself, not have too many contests for the sake of having contests, and give away items that have broad appeal.
That's why we've only given away the Dria Nursing Cover and the Breeze Playard so far. They're both kind of luxury items that most people would want. I'd love to do more contests along those lines!
coconut / 8430 posts
Along the same lines of something crafted, how about blankets, quilts, hats, booties?
These should also be easy to mail and would accommodate different aged kids.

I would love to win new products that are just on the market that I haven't yet discovered myself. I also would love to win some eco-friendly products to try out. Or products geared toward toddlers and up.
blogger / pear / 1964 posts
I think the "luxury items" is a good tactic. For example, I'd never fork over the money for a $500 stroller or a $1000 crib, but I'd be super pumped to win one. If you there's an ability to "go all out," then do it!

Loved the nursing cover contest, wouldn't mind seeing that one again.
- I know gift cards are hard to get, but perhaps gift certificates to etsy stores would be more easily obtained? Hellobee would be great advertisement for small etsy shops, so they would probably be game. I would!
- Slings/wraps/carriers.
- Obviously high end, high demand gear would be awesome. Anything made by Stokke would excite me beyond belief! Also things like the GoCrib, etc.
- Popular items like A&A blankets, Sophie the Giraffe, NoseFrieda, high quality toys, etc.
- Books like Happiest Baby on the Block, Dr. Sears Baby Book, other popular parenting books, and board books for babies and toddlers.
- Cloth diapers. I'm sure not everyone would be interested, but there is a good number of cloth diaper users here that would love to try a new brand of cloth dipes!
- Online interior design consultations for nurseries... that would be a huge hit, and a great way for interior designers to advertise their work.
I'll come back and post more if I think of anything else.

@Mrs. Bee: I tried to find a Breeze winner announcement...Am I totally blind? I checked FB and the comments on the review but could only find the deadline to enter.... Was it announced yet?
As far as things to give away...
I'd actually love to see reviews on beauty items that post-partum moms don't have time or money to try a bunch of things out. For ex, the Mama Mia products that claim to get rid of existing stretch marks. Or the belly band thingies that claim to shrink the tummy. And then have giveaways on that- or don't...But I have based so many of my purchases off blogger reviews here, I would definitely love to see more reviews on "mommy stuff" too!&
honeydew / 7589 posts
@jholler25: Ooh, yeah, good call on the Mommy stuff!
Bio-Oil, other stretch mark creams, postpartum belly binders, pregnancy pillows, nipple cream, postpartum herbal bath soaks, pregnancy safe face washes and lotions, pregnancy safe nail polish (like "Knocked up Nails")...
Also, I personally would love to see the Hypnobabies home study course as a giveaway, but I don't know how many others would be interested. Anyone?
pomelo / 5331 posts
I love what others have said... I love giveaways and enter them all the time but have never won one! I have the worst luck ever
It would be cute to do a feature like you do where there's the contents of a blogger's diaper bag or their favorite registry items, then you could enter to win a package of those items (though it might be hard to gather all those)
I love the idea of the postnatal mama care kit, too.

Ooh! And pregnancy bellyphones, for the baby to listen to classical music. Like these - http://www.amazon.com/Bellybuds-Pregnancy-Bellyphones/dp/B002OCBB1O/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2F52D8P37FNKF&coliid=I2D0SRCCKAT38M
