I agree w @artbee... Love anything free! But I'd love a watercolor from your artist!

oooh, car seats/strollers/cribs, slings, cute etsy stuff (clothes, diaper bags, etc), diapers (either cloth or disposable).
One thing that would be AMAZING is if you could make the giveaways eligible for both US & Canada. A lot of times I find a good website/deal & then find out they don't ship to Canada, which sucks).

@bebefly: yah but you get paid maternity leave and subsidized daycare! I think you come out ahead!!

A really high end video monitor would be a hit too.
The only issue with gear is that the pregnant mamas would be much more likely to enter and want to win. Once you have the baby you probably also have the gear you need. Even if you did a give away of a stroller that is nicer/more expensive than the one I have I'm probably not going to enter because I don't need another stroller even if it would be an upgrade.

@tequiero21: Yep, Hellobee's artist is awesome. I love the elephant print. Can you do a giveaway of that?

Hey, you asked!

honestly, i'm with @artbee... anything free is great! i definitely don't think it needs to be a "luxury" item. even little things are fun if you win them!

@tequiero21: I have to learn how to make one first! Or win a few...

@mrbee: the only 'true' subsidized daycare is Quebec. Where I am (Ontario) it's subsidized based on income and there's a loooooooong waiting list.
But yes. The US should really get on the ball with that whole 'paid maternity leave' schtick.

In addition to all o f the FANTASTIC ideas for baby loot, how about mama pampering items? Beauty products, workout DVD, books, magazines, trendy diaper bag, massage oils, you get the picture! (can apply to dads too!)

@tequiero21: what a great idea!
I'd be excited to see contests that are a little more general like a free photo shoot or massage gift certificate because while Sophie and A+A blankets are great -- a lot of us have those items already. Staying in the higher end range also keeps it to products that most people do not already have so I like that idea, too.

I like the idea of smaller give aways but more of them. The HUGE giveaways seem to attract a bunch of fake users that want to sign up to win something. Keep it small and reward the regular posters. Is there a way to limit give aways for people with like 10 posts or more? Or if you have X number of posts you get an incrementally extra number of chances to win?

@Andrea: good points, I concur!
I'd love to win a family photo shoot and maybe a printing of 100 cards, perfect for the holidays!
Another cool thing would be a membership to a place like Gymboree or Kindermusic...less stuff, more experiences!

@Andrea: @looch: I would LOVE a photo shoot too but how would it work for a give away of services? We are all spread out all over the world. The provider wouldn't be able to travel to where ever the winner lives.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
@MamaMoose: A lot of photographers offer to travel to weddings, so I'd think it can be accommodated as part of the give away, no? I also assumed that the contests would only be open to US residents...not sure where I got this from.

@MamaMoose: @looch: It could be a national company, like Bella Baby. They offer services in many states!

Of course that does leave out people who live internationally, though.
GOLD / squash / 13464 posts
@Andrea: I've never heard of that. That's pretty cool!!
@looch: I just think with travel it probably wouldn't be worth it to the photographer. The cost would be too high, and their chances of getting repeat business from the winner or additonal business from people who entered but didn't win would be very low.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
@MamaMoose: yeah, I agree, for most photographers it doesn't make sense. But if you're talking about Jose Villa caliber photogs, for example, the exposure is huge.

@Andrea: I work for Bella Baby... I guess I wouldn't benefit too much from that prize.

@photojane: aw guess not, but you could ask them to do a giveaway! LOL!!!

High chair, jogging stroller, convertible car seat (I love Britax, personally), Educational/developmental toys....for all ages. Ball pits!

Diaper Bags, because even if you have one a new one can be fun.
Children's books
A basket of Mommy Pampering items
Birth announcements/ and or Christmas cards, the kind you do photos with.
Products that Bees have reviewed
One thing a home improvement blog I love does is have a giveaway that usually also gives all readers a code for like 10% off to drive business, so that might make more sponsors sponsor a giveaway.
