@MamaCate: @lamariniere: we went with Grace- which was one of the first names we discussed. She just wasn't a Hazel, she is a Grace. I hope!

Our son is Tobias (Toby). We passed on Elias (Eli), Theodore (Theo), Jonah and Jeremiah.
Theodore and Jonah might be contenders for a future child. Elias is too rhyme-y with Tobias. And while I really like Jeremiah, I dislike Jerry as a nickname too much to take a risk.

@sapphire: Same boat DD's name we had for ages!!! If future LO is a boy we are OK as he will be a Jr.
Another DD who knows?! lol

Annika was our front-runner for a while, but DH and I couldn't agree on the pronunciation (he rhymes it with Monica, I rhyme it with Danica). That disqualifies it for any hypothetical future LO as well.

Josephine was too popular in our area for us at the time. We now have (I think) a name we prefer, and will probably use if LO 2 is a girl. I wouldn't rule out Josephine for this one, or a hypothetical next one, either.
I thought it was trendy at the time, but haven't actually met a lot of kids with that name, so maybe I was wrong.

She was Penelope until 28 weeks and Willa was our runner up when she was born.

@Foodnerd81: oh I love it! That is my DD's middle name to honor a family member. So glad you waited to meet her!

@Foodnerd81: good choice! It's so timeless and goes well with C!

@lawbee11: That's right! I forgot about that! Well, you know what they say about great minds...

We were team green. Names we considered but didn't choose:
Boy: Sawyer, Silas, Jonah, Xavier, Leland, Landis, Rex, Leo, Mac, Geo (Geoffrey), Max, Ike, Noal
Girl: Greta, Norah, Rosalie, Imogen, Nell, Gia, Lydia, Autumn, Hailey, Thea, Cleo, Arden
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
Girls: Lynden, Elyse, Meredith, Lyla
Boys: Nolan, Kellen (still would use), Grant, Austin

If we were having a girl we would have named her Sarah or Autumn. We both like Peter but would not select that name. We also like William but it is so popular.

Harriet, Harrison and Clara don't go at all with DH/DD's last name
Marceline was our runner up for DD but I'm not a fan for a future LO
Eli and Elodie are our fronteunners for a future LO. Nephew is Elliott though, so maybe not

Charlotte was a top contender until I found out she was a girl and then Caroline stuck! I'm not actually as in love with it as a I was before so I don't think we'll use it but I'm not sure! Especially not because there's a princess and our middle name choice for a girl is Ellisabeth, which is a play on FIL's middle name!
We tossed around Emmerson, Amelia and Ella, husband completely veto'd those so we probably won't use them this time either

Maximus (Max) for our son.
Geneva for our daughter.
We wouldn't use either in the future.

DS was almost Jack or Landon.
DD didn't really have other possible names. I liked Ashlyn and Amelia but not enough to name her either of those.
DD2 didn't have any other options!

We nixed Lola, Norah, and Lydia for our LO. We are pretty settled on Claire.
For boys names, Colton was our #2, but Weston always felt right to us. We'll see what this LO ends up being! Most of those names are still on the table for future LOs, although I'm hesitant about Lola and DH isn't a big fan of Lydia.

If DD defied the MaterniT21 and came out a boy we were going to use Simon Montgomery. Won't reuse that name.
pomegranate / 3375 posts
Boy -- Julian and Ari (yes, we'd still use these)
Girl -- Rosalie and Tessa (we won't use these next time)
pomegranate / 3275 posts
Boys: Beckett, Emmett, Colin, Emerson
We agreed on girls names super early, but we are done having babies so the names we would have used are Gemma and Tessa.

My little ones names were pretty set in stone but I do still love Caroline, Daphne and Graham.
However recently my cousin has become open about being transgendered and has changed his name to Daphne. So yay for that name getting some use in my family

@mediagirl: I really liked Remy for a boy. My husband vehemently vetoed it.

We considered Thomas and Ryan for Ds1 but not for DS 2. Not sure why.

We ruled out everett, noah, Eleanor and colette. We'd probably consider using noah, Eleanor, or colette in the future.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
We didn't like the meaning of Alexandra so that one didn't make it with DD. With DS his name was pretty much set in stone.
