So I'm still in my 19th week. I had an ultrasound today and they got most of the measurements but they couldnt check the backbone because the baby wouldnt turn over unto his stomach..so I have to go back in two weeks....
Anyway the babys head was more torwards the left of uterus and the legs were towards the right so its sort of laying down flat on its back., and its butt is right on top of my cervix. The ultrasound tech mentioned that the baby was breech. I thought they would only call the baby breech if it was in the wrong position in the final weeks before the delivery. Did any of you have "breech" babies at your 20 week appointment that flipped into the normal position by delivery or is it very likely that my baby will stay in this breech position.

I'm not sure if the feet were on the left or right, but the baby is definitely across my uterus, as opposed to being in the "right" position. Don't worry about it yet! There's still PLENTY of time for him/her to get in the right place- you're only just half way there

@MegWag: Oh thats reassuring. I kinda always thought the baby's head moved down in the 3rd tri, so I was a bit surprised when she told me that my baby was in the wrong position.

That is how our baby was sitting at our 19 wk appt too! Well, she was kind of diagonal. Her head was more towards my ribs, and her feet more in my crotch. They consider her breech too. They call it breech just as a reference. It doesn't really matter right now. DS was "breech" until about a week before he was born. When he was ready, he moved himself into position (head down).

At my twenty week ultrasound, the tech told me that baby was staying on her belly the whole time lying lengthwise. Not to worry though, she'll move A LOT between now and birth. Breech is just a description at this point, and not a medical diagnosis.

just got my 20-week level 2 u/s and both babies were lying across my uterus. they didn't even call it breeched. and they definitely didn't sound concerned. i think you should be fine!

@Mrs. D: Thanks! My ultrasound techw ould have loved your baby, she was trying to get my baby to lay on its belly but it stayed lying on its back

@Mrsbells: Mine was trying to get her to roll over to get a better view of her heart! My placenta is anterior, so it was harder to get good views of anything.

My baby was in a breech position at 20 weeks. She just moved into the head down position at 36 weeks!

@Mrsbells: My baby was in the perfect birth position yesterday, but the tech told me that there's still plenty of time for the baby to move around and change positions. I'm hoping this position is the most comfortable for her and she stays this way

Head down. and wasn't really cooperating. Even though he's been in the "I'm ready to get out position" he never came. I was induced 1 week late. ha.

My daughter was breech throughout the entire pregnancy. I had to have a section because she wouldn't turn!

She was head first and stayed that way til labor apparently. I had a csection bc she was in distress and when they pulled her out they saw "a little booty!" according to my doctor.LOL instead of head!
He/she may turn!

Had my 22 week anatomy scan yesterday and the baby was head down.

She was lying transverse (head to the right, toes to the left) for almost my entire pregnancy. She turned at around 36 weeks.

She was breech but the ultrasound tech told us she will move a lot in the next 20 weeks, so it's nothing to worry about now.

S/he was transverse at 20 weeks, by 28 weeks, s/he was head down and appears to have stayed that way.
I'm pretty sure at 20 weeks, there is still lots of flip flopping going on in there, so I wouldn't worry too much.

My baby girl was also transverse or left to right at my 20 week and then again for an elective U/S a week later. Havent seen her since so not sure where she is positioned!

I'm 33 weeks and my baby is laying across my stomach (not up and down). The doctor told me that as long as there is room for baby to move, they will move around all the time, so there is no need to worry about positioning until the final weeks.

Oh they've loads of room to move yet. My twins were both breech at my 23 week anomaly scan, and today (26w4d) twin one is head down, twin 2 is still breech. Midwives have said that for twins, they usually have room enough to spin around until 34 weeks, so presumably singletons have more time!

@MrsBells: Just had my 19wk u/s today. MY baby is like yours lying either across uterus or breech although moving A LOT. Whenever tech tried to get a measurement, baby would move.

I had my 20 a/s last week, and butterbean was head down.

My baby was the opposite of how yours is at my 22 week appointment. Now at 32 weeks she is still unsure of where she wants to be, so don't worry you still have lots of time
