My best friend has a daughter and whenever she was over, she usually just threw the diaper away in the bathroom trash - I don't know why I would care - disposables wrap up pretty nicely around themselves, so it's not like I could see any of the goods.

On some occasions, her daughter would have a pretty stinky diaper. On those instances, she'd ask me for a plastic bag and she would throw it away in our outside trash - I definitely appreciate this thoughtfulness on her part. But if the diaper doesn't smell too bad, I don't see why you wouldn't just throw it away in the bathroom (or whatever trash is closest to you).

I always put a plastic bag in my diaper bag and throw them in there, then throw the whole thing away outside or at home.

I didn't vote for any of these options, but I normally put the diaper in a plastic baggie first and then ask which trash can I should use. Some people prefer diapers in the outside trash instead of the bathroom trash; I agree that it's kinda gross to throw them out in the kitchen.

I always ask them what they want me to do with it and let them know if its a number 1 or a number 2.

We use cloth, but when we're traveling we use sposies. For pee we just throw it out inside, but if it's a poo we'll ask to throw it in the outside trash. I also always have a plastic bag to tie them up in that hides the stink if needed.

Even though we use cloth we still have a diaper genie so when people come over they can use that.

If its a place like my parents, or a friends house with kids I'll just ask "where do you want me to put this"? I have, however, taken them home with me.

Unless they had a child in disposable diapers themselves (in which case I'd ask to use that trashcan), I would always take the soiled diapers home to dispose of. I always carry those small plastic bags for doggie poop and just put anything in those, knot the top and throw it in my bag until I get home.

I don't have babies yet and I'll admit that I am TOTALLY grossed out by dirty diapers in the kitchen trash. In fact, when I have friends come to visit, I am actually going to suggest they use the outside trash for diapers to preempt any gross situations (especially since I know they use the kitchen trash at their own house). I think asking a host about where to put a dirty diaper is totally the right thing to do. On the other hand, I totally wouldn't expect people to bring diapers home with them!

I put it in a plastic bag, put it in the diaper bag and throw it out at home unless they have told me otherwise or unless there's a diaper pale in the house.

I take it home with me in a ziploc (gallon sized) bag, but if they have a diaper genie ill ask if I can throw it in there.

I voted to bring it home with you, because I think that's what I'd do, but in my house I'd want the person to ask me (I'd tell them bathroom trash) or tell me where they put it. The only thing that would bother me would be if they put it somewhere and I found it a day or two later - I don't empty all the trash every day.

i'm with @Coco Bee: I always ask the host and then dispose of it myself. And I also carry the little scented baggies (like Doggie poop bags). If it were at my house, I would actually want the poop diaper disposed of in the bin outside.

I vote for bathroom trash, because having opened the kitchen trash at MIL's and seen/smelled a disgusting diaper, while making dinner..uhmm sorry but that is gross!

I usually ask the host too, but typically it's either a diaper pail or kitchen garbage. I keep a roll of puppy poop bags in my diaper bag if I don't feel comfortable tossing it until I get home.

We don't have a diaper pail, all diapers go in the kitchen garbage. It's smell tight and goes out ever second day at the least.

Just curious...would you clean off the poop from the sposies before disposing it?

I usually ask the host. At home, we put wet diapers in the kitchen trash can. Dirty diapers get tied up in a grocery bag and then disposed of. Pretty much everyone we know has kids of their own and have a system for dirty diapers. It's never been a big deal.

We use cloth at home but sposies when travelling, I have always asked the host where I could toss the diaper. Like Cocobee, I also ask where I can breastfeed as well. I think that way everyone is comfortable and happy.

Unless (1) it's family, or (2) they also have a baby in diapers, I'll put the dirty diaper into a plastic diaper disposal baggie and bring it home to toss.

I'm in the camp of unless they have a baby in diapers themselves, I pack it up in our wet bag and take it home with us if we're using disposables (we CD).
