I had the traditional strapless a-line gown. It had intricate beading on the train, and beading along the midsection, but was pretty plain other than that.
If I were to get married today, I would never do strapless. I would get something with sleeves - cap sleeves or long sleeves, or something more bohemian with an empire waist maybe. Maybe if we renew our vows in 3 years.

I had a slight sweetheart strapless, slight A-line with lace and beading detail. While pretty, not really my style at all, in hindsight.
If I were to do it again now, definitely NOT strapless. And maybe a shape that is a little bit mermaid-y.

Also slight sweetheart, A-line, with ruching to one side at the waist and some light beading. I have still never seen another dress that I like better.
I didn't want strapless, necessarily, but I did like that my arms didn't feel confined but the bodice gave me a nice shape. It just looked really, really good

I had an ivory, V neck, all lace, slightly trumpet flared gown with a sash... I loved it and I think I would probably select it again! I never, ever wear anything strapless, so I knew that a strapless dress was not for me!

I had 3. My Nigerian one, my western one that was trashed my the seamstress a week before the wedding, and my replacement western dress bought off the rack the Wednesday before our Saturday wedding. The trashed one was all lace with beading, the replacement was totally different because I didn't want to try to recreate the other one, I wanted it to be its own thing. It was satin, no lace, ball gown with rouching.
If I did it again, I would have had straps of some sort! I liked all my dresses, the dress wasn't that big of a deal to me though. Ooo, I would have had a different bustle! Mine wouldn't stay done.

I wore a Vera Wang tulle ballgown. I loved it, but if I were to do it again I'd probably go with a lace sheath dress with a keyhole back.

I wore a v-neck ivory alencon lace dress, it had a small train and was perfect. I would definitely spend more time finding a perfect sash if I were to get a do-over.

I love my wedding dress! I'd wear the same thing again. I actually wish I had somewhere to wear it to! It was a sweetheart strapless mermaid Vera Wang I got on preownedweddingdress.com.
I have never felt more beautiful than I did on that day, and it was all because of the dress!

Ohhh, I have a Vera Wang Eleanor, I bought it off of eBay, sight unseen. The thing weighs in at 15 pounds, but we're getting married at the end of October (in Wisconsin), I'll be safe! I'll pop back in after the wedding and see if there's anything I'd change at that point!

@ms.janedoe: Gorgeous! I felt like Vera Wang put some extra fairy dust in my dress on my wedding day...It was made so perfectly and the fabric was so wonderful- I just felt like she made me float on a cloud all day:) I am sure yours will feel the same way! I heart VW:)

i wore a really non-traditional, but awesome dress. i felt so pretty and girly. it's a natural cotton rose-patterned lace empire dress with a ruffly tank-style top. i'm so in love with it that i would pick the same dress over and over. we had a moderately casual wedding. no one wore jeans or anything crazy, but it had more of a spring dinner party feeling than a traditional wedding.

I loved my wedding dress- I knew I wanted a strapless dress with a bow (HAD to have a bow!). Its only been a little over a year since the wedding, so I'd think I'd choose the same thing, but I've grown to love dresses with lots of lace too.

I loved my wedding dress soooo much!! Claire Pettibone's Fontaine, empire waist, little cap sleeves, tons of embroidery and flower embellishments....Siiigh, out of all the wedding decisions, my dress is the one thing I never second-guessed and I would absolutely pick the same one again in a heartbeat...I can't figure out how to attach a pic

I wore a strapless tea-length dress with a crinoline underneath. I looooove my dress, but if I were to do it again I probably wouldn't get a strapless dress--I'm not sure it was the most flattering style on me. I hate a lot of my wedding photos because of the dreaded back fat, and I hate my arms.
But overall, I'm still in love with it!

I only got married last year. I wore a mermaid gown by mori lee and I would wear the same dress again. Although if I were richer I would wear my dream dress which is the Romona Keveza dress below.

I went strapless, but it wasn't an issue. I loved my dress! Still do today... though, I'd probably go less pouffy.

We haven't even been married a year, but I would still pick my dress. I was about 18 weeks pregnant at the wedding and felt so amazing. We moved the wedding up a year when we found out I was pregnant and only had 3 months to plan! I bought this as a sample (for VERY cheap) and I didn't need to alter it at all. It's exactly what I wanted (ivory, lace, v-neck, with straps!). The only thing I would change is that I would have had it a little deeper of a V in the back!

I loved so many dresses but didn't want to spend a lot of money on a dress so I bought the cheapest one I liked...it was v-neck and had tiered ruffles on the skirt. Next time I think I would spend more money or something more expensive looking. Here are the only photos I have on my phone

Mine was very simple ... hopefully enough so that it won't look ridiculous in pictures in 30 years. We had a city wedding and I've never been a big blingy/pouffy girl, so it was perfect for me. I would choose it again!

I didn't love my dress, but couldn't really afford my dream one.
I would choose something more like the second photo if I could do it again, but with a flower instead of a belt. I love the flowy-ness. I also love the one strapped dresses.

I loved my dress. It wasn't THE dress - I found that a few months earlier and couldn't afford it :(:( But it was a beautiful dress and I loved it.
I would definitely wear my dream dress if I could. Or go for something similar - full-length lace dress.

@photojane: I adore your bridesmaids' dresses. Those are pretty much exactly the bridesmaids dresses I wish I'd had.
I didn't wear a strapless dress mostly to satisfy my very conservative family, but I'm glad I didn't something different. I still love my dress although I think it would have been pretty with a sweetheart neckline.

I was pregnant when I got married (found out DD was on her way 3 months after our engagement!) so my plans for original dress changed A LOT. Here's me in the dress I wanted to wear (Spring 10 monique lhuillier) and what I ended up wearing (custom Monique lhuillier)
