My kitchen is teeny tiny and the trash can is under the bar in full site, which is really the only place it can go. It's a trash can made to sort recycling with 3 separate compartments with 3 separate foot pedals. We actually do have a pull out cabinet under the sink designed for trash, but we put all the cleaning supplies in there instead.

Mine is under the sink with a cabinet door. I rinse often & use so many paper towels because of the set up.

We have a built in cabinet drawer thing that an open top plastic trash can drops down into.

@Greentea: not the only one! We also have a standalone with no lid! It's just too easy! We also take our trash out daily.

We have a stand alone with no foot pedal, but before LO gets old enough to get into it I'd like to get a lid of some sort. As a nanny one of the families I worked for had one with a motion sensor to open it, and I really liked that. I agree about hating having to open a door/drawer. Plus those are usually so tiny. I don't want to have to take the trash out multiple times a day.

We have a stand alone with a foot petal and its in the closet because LO was digging in it. Its annoying but it keeps him out.

I have a cabinet drawer that pulls out and I LOVE IT!
