I'm planning a shower for my friend in January. Trying to figure out timing. I'm thinking 2 hours? She has yet to send me a list so I have no idea how many people, but I would guess 25? It's not going to be a sit-down meal. Probably more heavy appetizers and desserts. Considering it's a Saturday, I feel like I shouldn't go into the evening hours in case people have plans. Thoughts?
What time frame?

I voted 2-4 but actually I want to change my vote to 1-3! I think early afternoon is the perfect time.

1-3 is a good time and then all you need is to serve some snacks.

I recently went to a baby shower from 1-3. It was good timing for snack-y food. Far enough behind lunchtime that we were ready to eat a bit, but didn't need anything heavy.

So thoughtful of you to throw a shower for your friend and I love that you are thinking of others and their plans ... most people do not. I have planned 43 baby showers (between being a military spouse, FRG treasurer, and a teacher, it seems showers are constant! ). To respond- Protocol states that if you are only serving appetizers, snack salads, and dessert teasers (or cupcakes/a cake), generally, one would have such an event in between set mealtimes such as a bunch shower (10-12 am) or a mid-afternoon "tea-time" shower (1-3 pm). With that stated, it is nearly 2019 so, basically anything goes. Consider your food choices for the time of day, as well as, the party "theme" (* besides baby shower, is it coastal baby [afternoonish], tea baby [teatime], denim [afternoon], woodsy [late afternoon], baby animal [towards morning], etc), and when the mama becomes the most fatigued (is she a morning no-go or mid-day crash-out? A dozy by 3 pm?). You want the guest of honor to enjoy her shower and not be looking for a quiet place to kick back for a siesta mid-party. I hope this was even remotely helpful.

I think 1-3 is ideal but 2-4 is also fine! 12-2 I would expect lunch!
