We had 2 major flops. The wood maze thing and the FP wheelies city skyway.

We had the skyway DS was only interested in it for a few days and then he got bored of it and it became an eye sore so we sold it.

Mag formers and Legos/duplos. I'm a architect and really thought she would like building things!

Radio Flyer push tricycle! LO 2 got it for her bday and she wants nothing to do with it.

I spent ages picking out the most adorable little Chelsea doll (and overpaid for a specific hair color/dress) and she loves these seriously ugly fake Barbies she got from the hair salon instead!

That Skyway is awesome! My DD would go nuts for something like that!
We got her a play kitchen and a bunch of baby doll stuff and she barely plays with them. Also, all the Frozen Barbies. Nope. But she LOVES her little people.

@regberadaisy: really?! My son is obsessed with Legos! He has played with them nearly every day for a year!
Unfortunately, the play kitchen hasn't been very successful with either of my LOs. I'm going to keep it for a few more years, maybe DD will like it when she's a bit older.

The Zany Zoo. And all the puzzles. Very little interest/short attention span for those. Kitchen and doll pretend play could go on for hours over here though.

Train set/table which just boggles my mind because he loves going to the bookstore to play with the trains there and he plays with the1n at my mom's house all day! Plus he is obsessed with all other things that "go" so I thought trains wold be a huge hit.

The Zany Zoo wasn't a huge hit for Xander. He'd occasionally play with it, but for the most part, wasn't that interested. Luckily Logan seems to like it though! And his interest is making Xander play with it more too, haha.
And Xander LOVES that Skyway @mediagirl:! Your LO is crazy.

The play kitchen was a total flop ( I mean, it was used as a train/car storage unit for a while) until I brought it outside and let my son go to town with water play. We just dismantled it for recycling because it was at the end of its life.
The other thing that's been a flop is the indoor tent. Good thing I only paid $60 for it and not more as I had planned because it basically gets ignored.

@lamariniere: yup! The baby plays with it more than her right now.

The play kitchen. It mainly gets used as a place to hide things from us.

The FP Barn (and pretty much every other FP playset). I finally put it away in the closet, and he asked me to take it down once a week or two ago...and played with it for literally a minute before asking me to put it away. Fail.
My stepmother bought him that Skyway for Christmas, though...I hope he likes it!

My 7 yo got a GoldieBlox movie maker for her birthday and I had heard and read such great reviews... Plus, she loves movies and wants to work in film when she grows up.
It worked fine at first, and I was impressed with the concept and their packaging, details, and storybook-like instructions (original and fun concept)... but then this one piece didn't fit right and by Day 2, the entire thing was falling apart.

Our play kitchen! He has NO interest in pretend play...we moved it to the kitchen and turned it into his "real" kitchen now...it holds his dishes and utensils haha. But he wants nothing to do with pretend food or pretending to cook. He takes his ikea pans and puts them on the real stove when we arent looking. Sigh.

Zany Zoo. Outside of the first couple days, she hardly played with it.

Zany Zoo - - Wasn't played with a lot, he liked to flip it over more. We got it used, played with it for a bit and then sold it.
Play Kitchen - My daughter just dumped out the drawers and banged on it. It took up too much space so we passed that on too (again, I think I spent $40 from a garage sale and sold it for $40). She just plays with the play food now.
Sports Center - My friend got this and her son didn't play with it, so she let us borrow it. Neither of my kids will play with it either (age 4 and 1).
Oh yea, we have the skyway thing and its actually a cute toy that both of them do play with together. So for now its a win.

Trains!
As soon as I found out I was having a boy I started buying all the Thomas sets - because ALL boys love trains right???
He played with a few times but lost interest quickly

@Adira: sure - but it might be heavy to mail!
I will take some pics this weekend and show you what I have!

The water table. I thought she'd love it this past summer but she'd only play with it for about 10 seconds before getting bored.

Fisher Price Klip Klop stable. I continue to try to sell this one. No go.
The large nursery playset with baby crib, high chair, changing table etc. She loves dolls and loves her play kitchen so I figure this would be a define hit, but nope.

Another vote for little people, she has the Castle, Ariel's kingdom, & something else and she just never plays with them and they are expensive little buggers and take up a ton of space.
She's not a huge fan of puzzles either, we had a ton of Melissa & Doug ones and she played with them once and then says "I already did that"

T never really took to magformers....
Little People are a HUGE hit here, as are lego duplos (but he really only got into them after age 3 and at almost 3.5 is obsessed with building).

zanny zoo and activity table. Basically, anything that directs the way he interacts/plays with it has been a fail.
Oh and his ride on toy (he got a spherovelo as a gift) and rocking moose. He doesn't seem to like that feeling of sitting astride something.
He loves blocks, cups, and musical instruments/bells. So we've moved to a more montessori-inspired playroom with a small number of open-ended toys.

@LulaBee: How old is she? At age 3, she may still be a bit young. My 4 year old just got into her balance bike (and even did a big bike without training wheels last night). We also haven't gotten out a doll house yet. I dont think she would be into it.

The push toy/walker I obsessed over and got for her first birthday. It is beautiful (wooden with two woodpeckers that click and peck as you push it) but LO hates it and refuses to push it. Such a waste of $$.
Also the "Wheelie Bug" ride-on toy I also got her for her first birthday. We actually got the hedgehog version, which is super adorable. But she refuses to sit on it or have anything to do with it--she is not a daredevil at all and I think it scares her. I'm hoping there's still a chance she'll grow into this one (she's 14 mos), but so far a big strikeout.

@autumnlove: Haha, this was a huge hit for us. Still going strong after 2 years.

There cute tent I made my mom buy her. It's just there but she never goes inside to play. Maybe when she's older?
