We didn't budget. But every single.thing was gifted. Shes the first grandchild so my parents went pretty crazy. We didn't spend a lot though... a lot of diy and antiques.

LO is the first grandchild (on both sides!) so I think most of the big stuff like crib, glider, etc. will end up being gifted to us.

The nursery is basically the only room in our home with carpet, so we're going to rip that out, have hardwood floors put in (maybe pergo floors rather than real hardwood, not sure yet), and have the room repainted - so however much that costs to hire people to do that will be our biggest expense.

My mom also gave us a beautiful vintage art deco children's print for her room, which I need to get framed, so maybe $300 for that?

My parents gave us $1,000 for the nursery, but we'll probably shell out a little more on top of that. We really want to splurge an Oeuf crib, so that's going to use up the majority of the money from my parents.

Not much. We spent $100 on the crib, $30 on the changing table (used) and we are hoping to get the glider ($175) as a gift. Everything else in the room is something we are re-purposing. If we buy a dresser before she is here, it will be used off of Craigslist. We will probably spend $25-$50 on paint, depending on how much we need and another $20 for a closet organizer.

We really didn't have a budget for the nursery other than, be as frugal as possible because these items are not going to be used for very long! Total I would guess we plan on spending $300 tops. If we don't get the glider, we'll use a la-z-boy we have in the loft as our feeding rocker.

So far we've only spent $50 on paint! My mom bought us the crib, we are using an old dresser as a changing table, and my SIL gave us her old glider. All I plan on buying is a rug and some inexpensive art for the wall. My theory is kids will damage anything nice, so why spend a lot of money on their stuff?

We spent very little. I'm not a decorative kind of person though, so we didn't do a lot. The crib was a gift, we bought the dresser second hand, and used a recliner we already had in the house. We painted and I have a monkey decal that went on a canvas with modpodge that we hung. Very basic and efficient.

My husband gave me a $5000 budget for Grayson's nursery but I came in about $2000 under! We did a venetian theme and found some great venetian masks at a boutique for cheap and had Long Live the Queen stenciled on the wall with some painted columns and scrollwork. That part was not as expensive as I had thought it would be since painting isn't as expensive as other treatments. I got lucky that Liam was ready for toddler furniture so we took his dresser and changing table and shelves for Grayson's room. This is our nursery spending so far, right on budget:

$90 paint
$340 glider + ottoman
$189 organic mattress
$1000 crib, changing table/dresser, nightstand

We will spend a few hundred dollars for lamp, rug, blinds/curtains, changing pad, and decorative pieces.

Total for nursery $2000.

Like, $0. Buying a house right before having a baby has its disadvantages!

We just spent $1900 for the crib (plus the conversion set to make it a double bed some day), the dresser, the changing station that attaches to the dresser, and the mattress. But my MIL paid for half. She wanted to pay for all of it but we wouldn't let her. We still need to buy a glider, paint, and materials to add a chair rail. Everything else we expect to be gifted.

We're hoping to keep it in the $1000-$1200 range and I think we can do it since the glider was the most expensive piece and we received that as a gift.

We spent just under $1000, though my husband likes to show me the first email i sent him with estimated costs (<$500). It was the natural mattress that took a big chunk of the budget, but everything else was either reasonably priced or off of kijiji. Err, ok there was the dwell studio bedding i convinced him was necessary because it was organic. Haha.

As cheap as possible? lol. I think with everything it's less than $1000. We did a LOT of DIY. I painted custom artwork. My mom made her curtains. I refinished/reupholstered DH's dad's dresser and his great-grandma's rocking chair. I am making her rug. My friend knitted a blanket for the rocking chair and my mom embroidered a pillow to go on it. I made closet size dividers.

We bought crib, crib bedding, changing pad, bookshelf and a lamp as well as some accessories and storage/organizational items.

@caffeinated: Our organic mattress was $95. It's not a super high quality one but we could only choose from 3 mattresses in total. We live overseas and the US furniture store only carries 3 models. UK cribs are different sized.

No budget here, other than keeping costs at an absolute minimum since I wasn't going back to work full time.

Crib, mattress, and changing table were gifts. We added beadboard around the room for about $200, a remodel we had been planning since we bought the house. Wall artwork, decals, and decorations ended up around $150. The rug was $20. A bookshelf for $30. Mobile for $10 on clearance. Everything else was what we had around the house (curtains, valence, shelves). I was looking at it yesterday amazed at how well everything came together!

We really didn't set a specific budget, we just knew we wanted to keep it reasonable but purchase furntire that could be used for future children.

I have no budget, but I'd obviously like to keep it in the $1000 range. This is going to be kind of hard because the only glider I liked was the Dwell studio one that was over $1000! It's beautiful...

We had no budget but we ended up spending 150 for a crib and about 40 for curtains. Everything else was gifted or passed along.
