AF was a day late and has only been brown spotting for 48 hrs now. I am 14 DPO (based on ovulation pains and thats it) and started spotting yesterday. This is not normal for me.
Seems late for possible implantation bleeding? I wouldn't test positive if implantation is just now happening, correct? How long should I wait to test?
I'm sure AF will really arrive now that I've made this post, as it goes. Anyway, what was ypur experience with implantation bleeding?

That’s kind of how it was for me in my second pregnancy. I thought it was af starting and put in my diva cup and then nothing happened and I didn’t get a positive test until 3 days later and it was faint. I spotted for a week or two after as well. I don’t know if it was implantation bleeding. I did have a small hematoma at my first ultrasound with my second pregnancy.
With my first I bled a few spots of red a week before I took a pregnancy test and that was it so I think that was true implantation bleeding.
As for testing, I’d give it another 3-5 days.

Spotting always announced af for me. The cycle that I finally had no spotting is when I finally got pregnant.
Science says implantation bleeding isn't really a thing. The embryo is microscopic at that point and doesn't cause enough disturbance to cause bleeding. Spotting can be caused by a myriad of other things though

I didn’t have implantation bleeding but I felt it with both pregnancies. Probably around 9DPO. I got positives both times by 12 DPO.
Brown spotting was always AF for me. That being said, a few weeks in, I spotted a little and had cramps in my first trimester with my most recent pregnancy. So....🤷♀️!

@MamaBear87: that's interesting and you've sent me down the research rabbit hole. I had breakthrough bleeding in my first pregnancy and this seems pretty late for implantation.

@Clementine12: I had 3 pregnancies with no spotting/bleeding at all, but my 4th (my newborn daughter) I spotted for two days around 14/15 dpo. If you’re already 14 dpo just test!

@LCTBQE: oh my gosh! Congratulations! I should test (I WILL at lunch today I suppose since I don't have any at home rn) but I am worried about getting a 
then bleeding heavier/losing the pregnancy - I had bleeding first tri with my daughter and it was not a good time for my mental state.

Spotting is always a sign that I'm not pregnant. I've never had spotting in cycles I've conceived - doesn't matter if it was mid-cycle, close to AF, etc.
I know a lot of people experience implantation bleeding but I think the majority have none!

I had spotting with both of my pregnancies. Not sure if it was implantation bleeding. I don’t usually spot more than a day when AF arrives and this was different.

@Clementine12: no problem. I have never spotted before a period or mid cycle and the two times I have had some random funky bleeding it was because I was pregnant!

Before I started TTC I never spotted, once TTC I had it all - spotting regularly when I wasn't pregnant and spotting when the pregnancy was viable and was non-viable.

With DS (now 4), I started spotting the day after my positive test (15 dpo) and spotted on and off for about 2-3 weeks. I can't remember with DD (now 15mo) but I don't recall spotting. I had a MC in between and I didn't bleed until the MC itself around 8 weeks. (& for what it's worth, I have had ovulation spotting in both of my successful pregnancies.)

We weren't actively TTC with my son, and I don't remember any unusual spotting. With this pregnancy, I was very focused on any possible sign before testing, and still didn't notice any spotting whatsoever.

I used to spot a few days before my period started and never had implantation bleeding. I did have cramping with my first (when I was actively TTC and very aware of what was happening in my body). If I recall I did not have spotting before either pregnancy. The fact that it was different than usual was a sign that something was up.

Test from just now - think I see a v faint line but I'm not the most confident. 15 DPO and brown spotting for 3 days now.

@Clementine12: if you were 15 dpo for sure, you'd get a stronger line I think 
I always thought (wished) I had implantation bleeding but the very buried stress of TTC that made me spot starting the month I tried to get pregnant. I did get pregnant eventually 3 times tho!

@pachamama: yes I agree - there is a line but it's crazy faint for my dates. Ugh I think I would be better off not knowing

@CatchAFallingStar: not 100% - I'm now on CD29 and figured ovulation based on some cramping around then and what is typical for me.
We're currently NTNP so I have no other data to go off of.

@Clementine12: I'm another vote for no implantation bleeding. I always spotted with AF.
Maybe grab a basal thermometer from a pharmacy and take your temp the next couple mornings? My temp was always a good indicator of what was happening with my body. It's so hard to know for sure when you ovulated based on cramping alone. Maybe you geared up to O but didn't until a bit later than usual?

@Clementine12: I *think* I can see the line when I adjust the brightness on my screen, but from a lot of experience with FRER's and beta tests, if this is positive, your hcg is probably in the single digits here--every FRER I've done that's this faint the corresponding beta has been like, 6. Wondering if you have a chemical on your hands if you're actually 15dpo 
but if your dates are wrong, who knows? Did you test again today?

@LCTBQE: yes with FMU and nothing darker - definitely a line but not something I can capture. I think I would've had to O really late by this point for this to be anything but a chemical.
Does this usually resolve itself or is it something I need to see my OB about? How long should I keep waiting for AF to show up?

I think if it was me I'd call the OB tomorrow if your period hasn't started and just let them know what's going on and go from there, but maybe others here have a better strategy. They will want to make sure you don't have an ectopic on your hands, but personally with my second loss, I went through a tremendous amount of hand-wringing and like 12 betas and then I just ended up having a natural miscarriage and passing everything at about 6 weeks. I don't know, I'm sorry it's not just a cut-n-dried pregnant or not-pregnant situation
