1994 or 1995 Ford Taurus SS. A few years later, I bought a used 1998 Ponitac Sunfire and my sister drove the Taurus when she started driving. She ended up totalling it.

I don't remember when I got it but I would think around 16-17 so around the year 1999 or 2000. I think I used my parent's car until my dad got me the Taurus.

I had just turned 18 and had 6months left before I graduated high school. My grandmother put a down payment on a 06' chevy cobalt and I had to make the payments at $203.00 for 5 years. The car lasted 10 years but it was terrible!! That thing had 5 separate recalls on it at different points but beggars couldn't be choosers

1990 Mercury Tracer, brown, 4 door when I was 16. I loved that car!!!! Got me through HS and college and one year into my career ETA my parents bought this for me.

1999 Olds Alero, first car I bought myself and I loved that car too!!! was very very sad when I had to get rid of it.

The first car I drove was my parent's Subaru Outback. My first actual car that I leased after I got my first job post grad was a Mazda 3.

A Honda Civic. I can't even remember what year it was! I was a senior in college at the time.

14 seems SO young to be able to drive. Can't even get a permit until 16 (or it might be 17 now?) in NY.

@IRunForFun: I know, 14 seems nuts to me! It's 16 for permit in MA and then once you get your license (I think at 16.5) you're not supposed to drive with any other minors for a while. I know a lot of my high school students don't even get their licenses anymore right away.

The first car I drove was a 1987 Ford Tempo. My parents got it for all the kids to share to my brother and sister drove it before me, and it wasn't technically "mine"

The first car I owned was a 2002 Honda Civic that I got the January before graduating from college.

The first car I drove was a 1988 Chevy Celebrity with bench seats and gaudy/frilly floral lace seat covers my mom had made for the car. That car was an absolute tank - truly don't make them like that anymore and my brother and I totally still miss the old beast. It was totaled in a hit and run when I was 18 and we got a 1988 Mitsubishi Sigma to replace it. Gold, brown velvet interior, V6 engine, sunroof. Stylin'. My brother drove that car once I left for college.

My first owned car was a 2002 Honda Accord that I got my senior year of college.

I had a 2001 yellow-green Beetle. I had wanted one since I was a little girl and my parents bought it for me when I was 15. I had it for almost 10 years!

My parents actually still had it until about 6 years ago even though it was barely working.

The only car I ever owned (well, my parents bought it from a friend) was a 1986 Nissan Maxima with a sunroof, I got it circa 1997.

The first car I drove was my dads 1977 chevy nova. That thing was a tank. I loved it.

For my graduation present my parents put a down payment on a new 2000 Kia sephia, I had to make the monthly payments though. I had that car for 9 years before I totaled it.

I got my first car when I was 16, it was a 1996 Ford Taurus. It was a boat, but it was perfect! I loved it!

used 1994 toyota 4runner at 16. i LOVED that thing, but it got the worst gas mileage. i did drive my parents' vans before they got me that car. i was the oldest so if they wanted me to help and drive my siblings, they had to get me something.

Mazda protege! Don't remember the year but it was a lovely sparkly purple-blue and was a hand-me- down from my dad. I was 17.

@Miss Ariel: mine was the same, 2001 Echo and oddly enough had about the same mileage! I had it thru college and then passed it on to my two younger siblings. My mom finally sold it just last month. That car held up so well!

Green dodge intrepid hand me down from parents, probably mid 90s but I can't remember the year. We called it the beast but I loved it because it was mine to drive at 16, even though it had a lot of problems.

First car I really owned is the one I have now! City living for 10 years didn't require one day to day.

1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport. It was my husband's car and I started driving it when we got married in 2007. I was 21 (got my license at 20).

The first car I bought was our current car, a 2011 Nissan Versa. If I can keep it long enough, that will be the car I give my kids to drive in 13 years, ha. No fancy cars for them! Beater cars all the way until they get better at driving or want to save up their own money to buy something nicer.
