I loved Baby Sitters Club and couldn't wait for each new one to come out! I have way too many favorites but one of them is called A Pair of Red Clogs by Masako Matsuno. As an adult it took me forever to find a copy since I had forgotten the title, but now I have it in M's (massive) book collection.

All of yours + all the Little House on the Prairie books. I think i read "The Long Winter" 100 times!

Oooh definitely Roald Dahl, and I read the Babysitter's Club religiously from like 3rd-5th grade. Also the American Girl books. My absolute favorites though were To Kill a Mockingbird and The Outsiders, but those must have been in later elementary school/middle school. My favorites from when I was much younger (pre-chapter books) were Maurice Sendak books--my mom had the best different character voices for Mickey in the Night Kitchen!

@Freckles: YES!! The long winter is sooo the best one. I re-read them all in University and while they are very misogynistic in a lot of ways, they do hold up. I am scoping out eBay regularly for older copies of the whole series in good shape for my future little ones!

Loved all your favs too. I actually read all the Anne of green gables again one summer in college. As a got older loved all the christopher pike ones as well as lois lowry. Having taught sixth grade recently I got into all of the Rick Riordan books.

This couldn't come at a better time. I'm going to be putting together two sets of my fave childhood books for my niece. One for her birthday in 2 weeks and another for Christmas.

So many favorites. My dad read to me at bedtime and my favorites when I was very little were Winnie the Pooh and Paddington Bear. When I started reading chapter books myself: Roald Dahl books, Anne of Green Gables series, Little House on the Prairie, etc.
