We installed the cabinets as drawer style al la Ikea... I def think it's more space efficient! Other than that, since we completely renovated the kitchen when we bought the house, we pretty much did what we wanted with it.

I wish it was bigger overall- our new house is so big and the kitchen is very average size. Wish I could take square footage from someplace else! I wish there was more counter space especially. And I would like a breakfast bar at the peninsula and would sacrifice a little cabinet space for it if necessary.

Would also change the colors but I assume you are already doing that to your liking. We have the doors that open to drawers for pots and pans and it's taking getting used to. I don't see how that's better than just having drawers. Why is it better to open two doors all the way and then pull out drawers? (Legitimate question- we really just moved in a week ago).

Oh and I wish we had a proper pull out in cabinet garbage thing.

More lighting! We have cathedral ceilings and skylights and tons of natural light, but the overhead lighting is....in the cathedral. As well as lights over the sink. I would like additional lighting....maybe sconces? Not sure.

I wish we had floated the lower cabinets/countertop and over fridge cabinets out from the wall so our fridge would be flush with the counter. And, I wish I had done an in-island range (with a hood that vents out instead of into the wall) and wall ovens. And, I wish we had gotten the countertop I requested instead of the finish the contractor ordered and installed.

I think drawers are smart, our big cabinets can get so disorganized.

I really like the layout of our kitchen in general, but here's my "dream" to-do list:

1. Paint the cabinets white - ours are honey oak
2. New solid surface countertops - ours are laminate with a honey oak edge
3. Stainless appliances - ours are black but totally in fine working order
4. Replace trash compactor with a cabinet & garbage pull-out
5. Replace black porcelain sink with a stainless undermount sink

I think all of these are do-able in time, we just have to save up. But also, we are currently in the midst of a hellish bathroom remodel, so I'm not sure if we are going to be up for another renovation any time soon .

I actually really like the layout of our kitchen, and I love that theres lots of cupboards. If we weren't listing it to sell next week, my changes would be
- change the appliances, for no good reason, ours are perfectly fine
- change the counters and sink
-add some organizers in the cupboards.
-possibly change the colour of the cupboards ( they're a reddish colour)

The cabinet color. The cabinet manufacturer calls it Java. If we had to pick what was going in our new build I would have selected the cream option. One day I hope DH will agree to replace the backsplash and change the island cabinetry only. Now, I am used to the "pedestrian" cabinets and don't miss my pull out cabinet drawers for pots & pans as much.

If I could do whatever I wanted to, I'd do a complete gut job, knock down a wall to open it to the dining area, close an exit, move appliances.

But in the real world, the only thing that we will do, in addition to having replaced all appliances, is to replace the formica countertop with some kind of solid surface, tile the backsplashes and install an undermount stainless steel sink.

We redid our kitchen a few years ago and I still love it, the only thing I would change would be the floor because we didn't get to that.

We're not getting to anything soon because it's one of the few rooms the previous owners got to. But I would paint. I don't understand the obsession with white cabinets, they are always dirty!
Our farm house sink is too low so it's annoying to use. There is wood behind it instead of a backsplash.
We've replaced some of our appliances but we still need a new stove. I really want an induction stove!

I wish we had more counter space, a big pantry, and that the bar height counter top was counter height instead.

Not much! Since I bought the house three years ago I have refinished the cabinets, changed the backsplash, replaced the appliances, and put a hood over the range instead of the microwave. I'd love better counters, but I would be afraid to lose my backsplash in the process.

We just redid our kitchen and it was a gut job. What I definitely wanted was:

-Granite countertops
-Stainless appliances
-More drawers instead of cabinets
-Pull out trash/recycling
-Laminate flooring (easy to clean)

Our kitchen is huge so we have our dining room table in there. It has tile flooring which is great with 2 little kids BUT they are plain white. It looks dirty all day everyday. I just don't have the time to go through with a broom/vacuum after every meal and mop it as well.
We rent so no way to change it
