My friend had a Christmas due date, and her water broke two weeks early. Baby's birthday is December 12. At first we thought of skipping March as to not have a holiday baby, but after five months of negatives, there wasn't any way we were skipping a month. It ended up taking us another seven months after that to get pregnant, and we are healthy 26/27 year olds. So, it might take up to a full year for a healthy couple, and there's no way I would want to increase the time by skipping a month

I say go for it. Babies have minds of their own and could be weeks early or a week late. Come join us

I'd go for it! There are so many variables that could make any time of the year less than ideal so I wouldn't let that stop me. If by chance you do have a Christmas Day baby, so be it - what an extra special holiday it will be every year!

I would go for it. I have an end of November (who was early, but due just a few days before Christmas) and an end of December baby. It's a busy time of year, but in the grand scheme of things, when their birthday falls is just really not that important.

My husband's birthday is Christmas Eve and he always loved it. Lots of family around to celebrate and give him gifts, and his parents always told him, "you're the best Christmas present we ever had!" and he was so proud of that as a kid. I say go for it!

Mid-December mama here. I don't know what DS's experience will be so I can't speak to that. But it was wonderful having a newborn during such a cozy and festive time! Your maternity leave and/or newborn months will be during a time where you'd be inside a lot anyway. There's no guarantees when it comes to TTC and pregnancy, and there's advantages and disadvantages to any time of year! I still say go for it.

Would not bother me. Currently my EDD with LO2 if everything goes ok is 3 days before LO1s birthday. Definitely not ideal, as I'd like them to have their own "birthday times" but such is life! In the end, a due date is just an estimate.

I wouldn't plan for a specific due date or month. Just let nature take it's course, you never know what could happen. Seems like asking for trouble to me when we try to plan these things so precisely.

The first time around we ended up w a late Nov Edd. Ds was born 11/21. Had we not gotten pregnant we probably would've skipped the next cycle. We had only been trying for two or three months at that point and there was a relaxed approach w ttc #1. This time we started ttc at the end of last summer. I got my BFP in Nov, but if we were still actively ttc, I wouldn't have skipped any cycles because you never know what can happen in the ttc journey!

My LO was born Dec 21st, and I"m a December baby too. I've never found it to be a big deal, and it works well for birthday parties because all the kids are out of school that week.

However, I learned the hard way that having a Christmas baby was a frustrating experience because I failed to set up lactation consultations beforehand - and then everyone is on vacation and not available. Just a heads up!

I'd go for it A good friend of mine has a Christmas Day birthday and loves it. Her family celebrates her birthday in the morning, then they have a Christmas in the afternoon. Such a fun day for a birthday!

I have 2 friends that just had "christmas babies" one delivered on 12/21 and another on 12/24.... the biggest issue they had was the one the delivered on christmas eve said being in the hospital over christmas sucked. She originally had planned a birth center delivery and they moved her to the hospital because they didnt have enough staff to accomodate her. The other woman was home by christmas and they just celebrated quietly.

I have two Christmas-y babies. 12/29 and 01/08. I actually really like it. Everyone remembers their birthdays and we are always home as a family to celebrate together.

We've consistently gotten pregnant in one try (3 times) or 2 tries (once), so I personally wouldn't risk it. I definitely didn't want a Christmas baby. But we're unusual in that regard, so if I didn't know that I wouldn't want to waste 2 months of potential trying. And since I'm on my 4th pregnancy with no baby yet, I might not wait even for us, since just getting pregnant quickly is no guarantee.

I was due Dec 18, so could have gone close to Christmas, but ended up with a c section just after 38 weeks, so I feel like timing doesn't usually work out the way you planned most of the time!

For my first I didn't skip any cycles because I wanted a baby more than I wanted to avoid a particular due date or holiday. For a second I would probably plan to avoid TTC in the spring, at least at first, because I would rather not have a winter baby but the holiday itself doesn't bother me.

I'm torn- DH had a Christmas Due date and was born on 12/27. As others have mentioned- he likes it. Everyone off school, got to have sleepovers, never bored bc of new toys, Etc.
I would hate it. We are a big birthday family so I would have not enjoyed sharing it with holiday hubbub.
I say go for it, and odds are you won't deliver that day anyway!
