I guess it depends on if you think you'll get pregnant right away? We got pregnant easily with our LO, so if we were going to have another we'd avoid a December or January EDD. But if it had been more difficult Id go for it.

wow you ladies are all amazing, thank you for your responses!! great to see the different opinions on it, seems the majority lean towards "go for it", but also interesting to see that there are others that would skip the cycle.
I know due dates are really not set in stone and it is one of those things that you cannot control, the joy of having a baby come in to your life would definitely make the date seem insignificant. on the flipside, people who DO have a birthday on or around x-mas maybe have a different experience of this! very interesting point on one post about the difficulty in finding a lactation consultant, duly noted!
speaking with hubby last night (because, obviously its not entirely up to me!) we decided we will start to TTC this cycle, and then assess if we get to the 2nd cycle and feel we should go for it next month or skip to the one after.
personally, I kind of feel I would like a december baby - at any point in december. we have 4 weeks off work annual leave every year, hubby would be home to help out and spend time uninterrupted in the early days. You would have to just make that extra effort in the future that the child doesn't feel they miss out on a birthday because of the dates clash, I think I would probably overcompensate on that front haha

Before my son was born, I would have said to skip the cycle, but now that he's here, I wouldn't change it... 12/16 birthday.

before i got onto month 4 of TTC (and after accidentally conceiving my first LO i didn't think it would take any longer than i wanted ), i was all for choosing a due date. I had chosen August 2015 for my next baby to be born. that didn't happen, so i settled on September as it was still "summer weather", that didn't happen, so i was content with October as it was not close to the big holiday season yet. now if i get lucky i will have a november due date, within days of LO's birthday (which I thought I didn;t want) and next month we move onto December due date. I decided I don't care anymore. the date my next LO is born will be special and unique simply because he/she is born that day, it doesn't matter what else is close by and at I am not going to skip a few months of TTC, only to get my desired month and get a BFN!

My birthday is just after Christmas, and my mom always made it a point to completely separate the two events so I wouldn't feel left out.

I'm not starting TTC until April because of this issue. Everyone I know with xmas bdays has always resented it.
