Just for fun... Say you won the lottery or were suddenly gifted $15K... What would you do with it?

Put it towards our down payment!! Whoo that would be AWESOME.

Put a huge dent in my student loans! That way I could focus on putting money towards LO's college + our 401Ks!

Split it between our investment account and our LO's. I'm boring like that.

I'd buy two top grain leather sofas for my new to me house and put the rest of it in savings.

I think we would save about $10k and go shopping with $5k. DH has been wanting a massage chair and I want an iMac!

Buy a car that would fit both car seats and strollers and still have room for groceries and what not. My little PT Cruiser just isn't cutting it, even with a slimmer stroller for little miss Em.

Pay off the rest of our credit card debt and then put the rest on a car!

@NaturallyCathy: it's crazy how much space two kids can take up in a car!!!

Half towards our down payment savings and the other half towards my student loan.

Pay off my one private student loan and put the rest in savings/ LO's 529 plan!
And spend 500 on some spring clothes for ME!

Put it in savings/investments. Boring. Maybe I'd skim $500 off the top and go shopping.

hmm. I'd probably pay off my big student loan. Or put it in savings in case of future LO-related needs. Hard to say....since my student loan interest rate is SO low (1.7%), and the payment is low ($120/month), I'm kind of content just paying it for the rest of my life.

I would buy some new furniture for the house and get DH a new car. Or use it all to finish the basement.

Wed pay off my student loans. Then we'd be debt free, minus the house which we hope to sell soon.
Its fun to think about!!

@mrs. wagon: Was just walking around fanueil hall at lunch and saw so many young women so stylishly dressed. Made me feel like such a frump!

5K in savings, 5K toward our principle, and 5K on home improvements (windows, roof, or re-tiling the bathroom).

@mrs. wagon: I totally need one! I just realized I am wearing pants from 2001 - NO LIES!
blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts
@winniebee: hey hey, no shame... if pants from 12 years ago still fit you post baby, good on you!!! hehe

@Anagram: I feel the same way about my student loans. Your rate and payment are not too bad! that's good!

Really guys? NOONE would take a vacation?
Bills -> savings (split between actual savings and possibly income after mat leave so I don't have to rush to find a good one) -> vacation -> lo's RESP/ an RRSP for us.

@sera_87: haha! I know! I feel so irresponsible saying I'd spend at least 5k on *things*. I would definitely love to go somewhere and budget that in!

Tithe/offering, CC, and the rest to student loans! I could pay off all but a couple of my smaller loans with that!

$5K to top off our emergency fund
$9K to pay off debt
$1K for a little getaway
Honestly I'd like to spend all $15K on a great vacation but $1K is about as much as I'd let myself spend on myself.

$10k in savings, 3k for home repairs & 2k on vacation!
