A post on another topic got me thinking about this!
For example: My dad has always used the phrase "Car-Killed" to refer to getting in a wreck. Example: "You're going to get us car-killed!" I used it my whole life and never thought it was strange until it was pointed out to me. I still say it. Lol
DH and his whole family add S's onto names of stores. Sonics, Walmarts, Krogers, Burger Kings....it annoys the %$#@ out of me!!!

We say Geeze-Oh-Pete's but I think that is a state thing, not a family thing. We lived in another state for a year and when we would say that, people were like "WHAT did you just say?!" Maybe someone can chime in if they have heard this before

When someone says "So..." we say "Sew buttons on your underwear". My parent's started that...

My mom always said "Are you kidding me?!?" - that's her answer for a No. I find myself saying it too now.
My dad always says "kissing the tree" when he talks about skiing and hitting a tree - as in "sonny bono kisses the tree".

My mom always says "from hunger" to describe something that's paltry or chintzy and my husband's dad always used to use the phrase "to beat the band". I always say "oh my gosh" - sounds so folksy!

My grandmother always said 'Heavens to Murgatroyd' which is actually a real phrase but I never hear anyone else IRL say it.

My mom and dad say 'cheese and rice!' in exasperation because my great grandmother never took kindly to people exclaiming 'Jesus Christ!' People always look at me funny when I say it.

I'm from Pittsburgh & I speak pittsburghese. I didn't realize that I did, or that I had a Pittsburgh accent, until I met my inlaws (who are from the south).

@aprk: my husband was born in VA & lived about an hour outside of Pittsburgh most of his life. The first time I asked him to get me the sweeper so I could redd up he looked at me like I have 10 heads.
My nana has lived in the strip her whole life. She's your typical Italian pittsburgher! Much worse than me

My family says "fuzzy pickles" when you take a picture. It's embarrassed me my whole life. And the entire extended family uses the phrase, so there's no escaping it if any member is around.
And we also use the term "CPC," which stands for "cheap plastic crap." Not sure if other people use the term, but we grew up saying it. I think my parents mostly used it to describe toys we wanted that they refused to buy, but now it descries all sorts of cheap crap.

My husband and I call a pacifier a chupey. Pronounced choopee. I have no idea why.
Growing up, my family always said dadgumit, dagnabit, and "what in the Sam Hill?" Makes me wonder where that phrase comes from.

We also say that someone is a "whipped petunia" when they are super tired.

I grew up referring to elastic hair ties as goo-goos. I've never heard anyone call them that since. I stopped saying it when I would get weird looks when I'd say it.

Anytime I say something is normal (or not normal), the in laws always say "normal is only a setting on a washing machine". Every. Single. Time.
I say "horsefeathers" and "shiitake mushrooms" and "fiddlesticks" and other weird folksy pseudo cuss words.

When a person acting crazy I call them a wackadoodle or when something/event is a big mess it is called a cluster f*ck.

My DH calls the remote the "box" and the living room the "parlor" also his family always says - "yous" like "yous guys" it drives me nuts! And the say "zippen" instead of zipper. Oops apparently these things drive me crazy!!

When someone is being nosy we look at each other and say MYOB (mind your own business).
Instead of saying sorry, we say "apologies, apologies". I tend reserve "I'm sorry" for more serious matters.

@cheert16: Is your husband from South Jersey or Philly? All of those sound normal-ish to me, except for the zippen!
When I was growing up, we called farts "fluffs" and everybody's 'privates' was a "peep." (No matter if you were a boy or a girl, it was all a "peep." lol)

-'where there's a (insert my last name here) there's a way' -that one embarrassed me growing up but I use it all the time now haha
There are also a lot of creative curse words that DH's Mom uses, lol. 'jingle d**k' is my favorite, lol!
