@T.H.O.U.: it's MRSA & now that 3 babies have it they were all put in the same room away from other patients. (Before we were all in a big open room with a total of 7?ish babies.)

@lauren0817: really well! He's finally up to 700 grams (a whole pound and a half!) and he can tolerate a trial of 4 hours off CPAP super well. They keep pushing him to do 6, but after a few days of it (they do trials twice daily) he just ends up getting exhausted so then it's back to 4.
I cannot believe he's nearly a month old. It just feels completely surreal.

@sera_87: so glad Theo is doing well. Hope breathing will continue to improve and that he keeps gaining weight. How are you doing and how do your older boys handle the situation?

@sera_87: been thinking about you guys! How are they handling his staph infection?

@Pumuckl: I'm fine And so far the boys barely know they have a brother. Sometimes we mention to lo1 he has a baby brother but he doesn't seem to really grasp it, and of course lo2 is too young to comprehend even if we did tell him. We haven't brought them to visit and probably won't until he's much bigger.
@MrsRcCar: they aren't doing anything to treat the colonization except putting him in isolation with the other affected babies and wearing gowns/gloves/purelling the eff out of everything. Except now girl twin has it as well. To be honest the whole situation just makes me want to rip my hair out.
(there were 2 babies originally affected, one of which was a boy twin, then ours, and now his twin - a girl)

@simplyfelicity: Theo is actually doing pretty well. He has some on-going issues. He WAS off cpap completely for a week and then his stats started dropping so as of right now he's back on it full time. He currently weighs around 4.2 lbs.
They're going to transfer him to the Children's Hospital probably by this weekend, for more specialized care and also because he's over the 44-week "limit" that our current NICU deals with.
He has a club foot that will probably require PT and/or a cast. Obviously it's still early to assess the severity, but hopefully we can avoid surgery.
He has (thankfully mild) hypospadias, which will require surgery.
His trunk is very small, his lungs are smaller than average and his heart is slightly large, which is why he's having so much trouble with his breathing. It is most likely that he will come home on portable oxygen and it's going to be a pretty long process from what I understand.
He was also scanned for primordial dwarfism, except they couldn't get a good enough picture so that's still inconclusive. They're going to rescan at a later date. I'm really trying not to fall down that rabbit hole just yet.
He has a sluggish liver, and some leeching of calcium from his bones; I'm not sure what that means long term but I do know he gets a few extra vitamins for the calcium and Ursodial for the liver.
I still have absolutely no idea when he's going to be coming home. One day at a time though, right?.

@sera_87: He's absolutely precious! And, yes, one day and one step at a time. So glad to hear he is making progress and getting stronger.
