It seems like lots of baby clothing items that I buy have the warning "Not intended as sleepwear" printed on them somewhere. ...Even for clothing that I think would work great as sleepwear. Can someone please explain this to me? What am I supposed to have my baby sleep in? I usually just put her in a onesie that is "not intended as sleepwear", throw on her sleepy sack, and call it a day...

I think it has to do with the flammability standards.

LO always sleeps in a onesie. her onesies are much more comfortable than the sleep sacks and sleepwear

i think it's because sleepwear is supposed to be snug fitting, and also most sleepwear is treated with some sort of flame retardant.

@Mrs. Bee: sleepwear has flame retardant?! yuck! I wish they wouldnt do that.
EDIT: Now I'm googling our sleepwear and sleepsacks. Our most frequently used is HALO and they say theirs does not have flame retardant chemicals. Phew.
